Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThere is not really anything to dislike about this place. Only minor negative point is that the kitchen doesn’t offer a lot of space for cooking.
Without doubt the views of this cabin are absolutely stunning. The cabin itself is very modern and equipped with everything you need for a stay at Snæfellsnes peninsula. Beds were very comfortable as well.

MexicoI know you cannot control the weather conditions, so I’m just letting people know that the cottages are kind of at a vulnerable location to the elements, the night we were there it was very windy in the peninsula and it complicated things a bit. Nonetheless, the owners are there to help you in any way they can.
The view is amazing, the cottage is right next to the sea, overlooking kirkjufell. What I must acknowledge is that our van got stuck in snow drift, because the wind the night before was crazy, CRAZY, and the owner helped us get our van unstuck. It wasn’t easy and he didn’t even know if it was going to work, but thankfully it did. That’s why I’m giving them the best rating.

United StatesIn the bathroom the shower is open to the full bathroom so water kinda gets everywhere when taking a shower. NOT a deal breaker because they leave a squeegee for cleaning up.
We loved the location of the property. It has AMAZING views and well worth the drive outside of town. It is perfect for two people. It had comfortable chairs for sitting and set up for ability to do some minor cooking if desired. It is also in a great location with no extra light for aurora viewing.

United KingdomVery minor - the kitchen facilities were adequate, but there were not enough plug sockets and the hotplate was a plug-in version meaning we had to rearrange the whole kitchen every time we wanted to cook something.
The cabin was beautifully located, with a view over the bay towards Kirkjufell. The cabin was a lovely studio layout and had everything we needed to relax and watch the world go by. We came in winter and there were continual snow showers coming over, but the cabin stayed nicely warm throughout. The owners were very helpful and accommodating when we arrived early on our first day.

AustraliaThe studio room was very small and kitchen was painfully small to work with. Although it had everything you needed to cook and is do-able. Stovetop is portable induction. The water unit is quite small and inside the room and we ran out of hot water once after doing that dishes and the second shower ( not hooked up to the geothermal water like other places) You have to wait for it to recover. The owners are working on a better solution for this. You need to have a hire car for this place as it’s not near enough to main town to walk.
Location was beautiful and private - we unfortunately didn’t get to see the view as we had very bad weather but if it was clear it would have been lovey to look at. Large balcony and was clean. Bed was comfortable and the place was very warm in winter ( January)

SingaporeNothing really - the cabin was cozy (space was just nice for 2 adults) but comfy nonetheless!
Managed to get a cabin on the same day we checked in, without knowing that this was one of the highly raved accommodation in the area! The location was secluded, to say the least, but the address provided was accurate and a breeze to find. Just a quick 10min drive from the city/ Kirkjufell and had the perfect condition to catch the Northern Lights (provided the sky's clear). Great view of Kirkjufell from the room too! The bed and toilet were comfy; no issues with the hot water for us. Really really love the paintings on the wall too - a great way to show support for the local kids with special needs!

TurkeyA perfect cottage in the middle of silence. Dis Cottages is a place that is about 10 minutes away from Grundarfjörður town centre, with nothing much around it and will fascinate you. Before check-in, the hosts provided the necessary information clearly and it was a really smooth expreince. If you are lucky enough and the weather is clear, you can see the northern lights from where you sit in your room. Thanksfully we were lucky enough.

AustraliaLike all the other reviews, the water from the shower does go all the way into the bathroom, so just got to be mindful. It didn’t bother us too much as I had expected that from the reviews.
We booked the bigger cottage after seeing reviews of how small it is and I agree with them. The bigger cottage was just enough space for the 2 of us. The view is amazing and very private. The cottage is modern and warm and has all the necessary amenities. I also requested extra pillows beforehand as I saw reviews that they are not that great and I’m glad I did that. It can also get VERY windy so make sure you lock your door as ours flung open. It did feel quite scary during the night but I knew the cottage is safe and built for the Icelandic wind. We took quick showers and found the water was still super hot for the 2 of us. The host Sebastian is super friendly and helpful.

IcelandWe could hear the neighbors walking around their deck all hours of the night, but it kept us awake enough to go outside and catch the aurora show - it would have been bad if we wanted a good night sleep.
It was away from the town/city and we were able to see the northern lights from our location. Amazing experience!
