Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MoroccoIt was all perfect
This was the first location for us on the island. It was perfect. Besides that the Sea View was great, the owners thought of everything. Binoculars, shaving mirrors, explanation of the washing machine. Great interior .. Would book again for sure. Try the fishsoap at Fjorubordid!

United KingdomCommunication with Kristinn was excellent and she replied promptly to my query ahead of our stay. The property itself is located in a beautifully peaceful part of Iceland with stunning views over the North Atlantic Ocean from the balcony. My wife and I were staying here for 2 nights as part of a big birthday celebration for her and she was absolutely thrilled with it; couldn't recommend it more highly for anyone looking for a really comfortable stay away from the hustle and bustle of a major town. Thank you, Kristinn!

AustraliaIt was perfect. Expensive of course but we are in Iceland and even basic accommodation is pricy. Definitely worth the splurge.
Gorgeous property. Sublime ocean views. Owner kind and friendly when we had to call on arrival about the door lock box code - our fault as we had not noticed the email that came after our booking so keep an eye out for this. Park to the right side as you drive in as the other spot is leased. Marine/boat style steps up to the loft area with kitchen/lounge/main bedroom were not a problem for the 86 year old member of our group once she had tackled them a couple of times so don't be put off by these if you are reasonably mobile. Cute, well-equipped and designed electric kitchen with a drawer-style dishwasher integrated with the oven. Great laundry with Miele washing machine and dryer. Outdoor hot tub also good for star-gazing and potential Northern-light searching. We bought supplies at supermarket in Selfoss but there are some basics such as salts, sugar, coffee pods and most herbs and spices already supplied.

GermanyWe spent wonderful days at the Barn House and felt very comfortable. The house is perfectly equipped and very stylishly furnished. The location is ideal for trips to Thingvellir / Golden Circle or towards the south coast (Vik, Skógafoss, Seljalandsfoss). The communication with Kristinn was perfect. Thank you Kristinn for letting us be your guests.

UkraineWe liked everything about the house! You have everything you need for cooking, e.g. great variety of spices, nice dishes, even baking paper 😄 Also you will find books all around the house. Huge windows gives you more than enough light during the day and each one can be easily covered if you want darkness) Beds are very comfortable! After the hot tub, diving into the soft and warm bed is great!) Hot tub is amazing! That's the whole great story!) Just imagine you coming in the evening, tired a little after sightseeing, entering the tub, where the temperature is around 38° and in a few minutes you can see Northern Lights right from the tub... Even when there is no Aurora in the sky, I admired the stars, clear sky and almost no artificial light around makes them extremely bright. Kristinn was very helpful and friendly. Replied to every message in a few minutes. In general, everything was amazing 😍 Will definitely be back here in summer)

NetherlandsAnother bathroom or toilet would have been great.
This place is amazing. The design of the house is so well done. The wooden building is at the edge of the sea in a street with a row of houses. There are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the groundfloor and at the first floor (second in some languages..) is another bedroom and the kitchen/living room with an amazing view! There is a hottub outside that was right on temperature. The location is, although very quiet, really central. You can make easy day trips to all the waterfalls, geysir, reykjanes peninsula and the black beach area. We had a wonderful stay! Thanks Kristinn and Rut!

GermanyThe room with the two single beds is a bid dark and the second room on the ground floor has a bed that’s not really suitable for two people. If traveling with a group a second bath / toilette would have been nice.
The location and view of the house is just amazing! Kitchen is very well equipped and the house overall very cozy - including the interior!

United StatesSplitting hairs here, but a few minor suggestions: - the home security system is excellent, but the buttons can be hard to see upon entering the house on a bright day. - the northern bedroom on the lower floor would benefit from a light switch near the entry to the room. - a small mirror would be appreciated over the bathroom sink. To be clear, this house is still a 10/10 for us.
This was our 7th trip to Iceland, and we decided to focus on the south. Our first stay was just outside Höfn, and the Barn House was our other lodging choice for the latter part of our trip, as we wanted good proximity to Fagradalsfjall. We knew we had a special opportunity to stay in a beloved home as soon as we saw the pictures. The structure itself was exciting to our shared love of contemporary + referential architecture. The interior design was clearly a labor of care and attention to detail. The location was divine & luxurious, steps from the beach, but well-protected. The lower level provides a generous entry space, large utility room with separate Miele washer & dryers, two beautiful bedrooms, and a luxurious, spacious bathroom. The patio, accessed by two doors from inside, has a silent hot tub and a full-size picnic table, surrounded by high privacy walls. The second floor is accessed by a sturdy, well-designed staircase/ladder hybrid. Each trip upstairs was its own 'wow' moment. The upper floor is a mastery of calming space, interesting design and luxurious comfort. Furniture placement works well and is configurable as needed. The views are remarkable. The voluminous ceilings and windows allow personalization of the views & light. The kitchen offers extra counter space and all modern conveniences, while the primary bedroom is as sumptuous & inviting as the rest of the home. Locationally, it's in a small oceanside town of <500 inhabitants. The pastoral drive from Selfoss adds to the feeling of 'getting away from it all'. Booking's website told us that this home is usually booked, and that we were fortunate to get the dates we wanted on short notice. Fortunate, indeed. We left the Barn House feeling refreshed & inspired, and we will keep this home as a top pick for future visits.
