Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaIt’s a little tired compared to the Inter Con where we came from. Needs a facelift, and the rooms weren’t the most spacious.
Great experience for the kids, with plenty of time at the pool and at the beach.

AustraliaSome of the resort facilities appear a little "tired". This may be reflected in renovations currently underway in parts of resort.
The resort activities, venues and layout appears to suit a range of travellers and in particular family groups. It has a number of restaurants/bars and eateries, each with a particular theme/style. The allocation of one breakfast venue as "child free" was a good idea, particularly in a resort that appeared popular with family groups. Breakfast was generally good with a range of foods available. The food and range of level of service in all restaurants was generally very good, with friendly efficient staff. Reception staff were very helpful.

AustraliaTowel replenishment during housekeeping a little sporadic. Some days 3 towels, some days 1 towel. No bath mat or hand towels fir a couple of days co distinct would be better. Takali restaurant mains arrived before appetisers, 3 others got mains and appetisers and were almost finished before any of my food arrived.
The adults only area and pool. Evening cocktails and co distend draff.

AustraliaWe couldn't use the adults pool. When we checked in we were informed of the 3 pools but were only allowed to use one. We had to pay a premium to use the adults pool.
There are plenty of different restaurants to choose from. Food was very nice. The resort was always clean and staff always willing to help with any request.

AustraliaThe property is a bit rundown and the restaurants on-site serve ridiculously overpriced food and doesn’t meet luxury resort standards.
Great location surrounded by crystal clear blue water. Good location for families, explore the island’s lush greenery on a bike and there are nice spots for snorkelling. Reef shoes would come in handy. Take a quiet stroll along the white sandy beaches, enjoy the beautiful sunsets and spot blue starfishes, sea cucumbers and other marine life. The buffet breakfast is nice.

AustraliaUnfortunately the power kept cutting out in one of our kids rooms and the keys had to be constantly recalibrated for the room. The resort is in need of some care but it is still a fantastic family holiday regardless and highly recommend. We have had 3 visits to the resort over the last 15 years and unfortunately the check out process has not improved and is still quite clunky. Definitely something the Shangri la processes team could invest some time and money into to save the wonderful front reception staff receiving the frustration from clientele.
Fabulous stay, enjoyed all parts of the resort and had some great family time with the kids 😊 Catered for an extra night stay and was an easy process adding the additional night stay.

AustraliaPricing confusion on drinks and full board packages. Very difficult to understand rules along with inconsistency of staff responses about it. You had to constantly check charges and query them with front desk which always had long waits and took precious holiday time trying to get fixed. Transfers both ways had not enough seats even though it was confirmed many times but we were pleased with how quickly the staff corrected this with little inconvenience.
Beautiful large grounds and facilities. Variety of restaurants and bars. Lovely friendly staff especially housekeeping.

Australia3% surcharge on all items - was told that this was a mastercard charge, only to then be charged another 'mastercard' charge on our account of 3% as well. There was also a room fee per night of $150 that was not disclosed at the time of booking. Additional charges are annoying, but ok ....as long as you are aware of them when you are selecting your accommodation. The rooms are as clean as I suspect they can be for the age/condition. There was a moudly smell to our bathroom, a leak in our ceiling (air-con we think) and a few cockroaches.... all of which I am sure are actually quite difficult to avoid on a humid tropic island with older facilities. This resort is in need of a bit of a facelift, but the staff keep the grounds well maintained. As with any resort in Fiji - be prepared to spend your money on food. It is expensive. We went to the grill restaurant on night one - were given laminated menus (decor was plastic chairs... ) and ordered what we thought would be enough food for the two of us for circa $120 AUD and no drinks. The food was lackluster, not filling (for example, the $20 entree had two prawns) and we were really disappointed. HOWEVER - after this experience, we were surprised that the buffet was so good and the rest of our meals at the other restaurants on the island were very nice. I'd just avoid the Bar & Grill!
You really cannot beat this property for location - both in Fiji and the actual resort itself. The rooms are all orientated around the action, so everything is just a short walk away from the restaurants and pools OR you are in the private, adults only area and are provided a buggy to get around. Win-win. We stayed at three different resorts on the coral coast and the pool/beach area was by far the best at Shangri-la.... as was the buffet breakfast. The nanny we hired was so beautiful and caring with our baby. The resort is as stunning as the pictures look.
