Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ArgentinaThere’s not always a person waiting in the reception but they can be found inside the property.
Property is in a quiet area of Aswan, away from the noisy city. Crossing the street it has an exclusive area to swim into the Nile river or do some kayaking, which are rented for a cheap price. They also offer water and soft drinks and a small breakfast included. You can easily spend many days relaxing in the hostel, without even leaving to do attractions.

ChinaThe host Gandi is super helpful, helping us arranging trip to Abu Simbel and Luxor. The driver to Luxor (i even didn’t know his name) is really nice, careful, and thoughtful. He drove us to 2 temples along the way in an unbelievable hot day. Our whole family likes him a lot. Hope he has a safe trip back home.

United KingdomIt is quite outdated, 20 to 30 years old. But how it is in Egypt. It's stuck in a time capsule and everything is old because the country and people and not economically prosperous. Kitchen smell a bit. But you get used to it. I burn my ball with the butwasher pipe and also my bottom not easy to mix hot and cold.so it's either too hot or cold.
Read all the positive views, is exactly like that. Everything is wonderful as the reviews and concept describe. Gandhi is the real version of Gandhi. A Nobel man. He is very friendly easy to talk to and helpful I stayed there for several days. He is very helpful and helped organise the trip to Abu Simbel for 800egp I think. A 4 am pick up. It was really good. But the driver was dumb and opened the window when everyone was freezing to death. This was in February at 4 am. But after communicating with the driver we sorted this out. Plus Ghandi sorted out a takeaway breakfast. Which was decent enough for the trip. Bread with cheese and jam. The location is a good 12 to 15-minute walk to the main road where boats and restaurants are. The breakfast is simple and good and does the job. The guests are good. But the Chinese don't talk a lot to others. I never knew why. The price is really good for the service and concept The WiFi only works on the down floor. Near the reception The price is really cheap and you can check in anytime. Good for solo travellers. It's very safe and secure with good bunch of people that you can team up with to go to Abu Simbel and Phili Temple (a boat ride across and back should cost 80EGP, but they rip you off and ask for 150EGP. It's a four-story building 🏫 and they have a rooftop to chill and take in the views.

GermanyI really enjoyed my stay here. Great place to meet other travellers, you can go for a swim right in front of the Hostel. The staff was very helpful and they had a washing machine for you to use. The view from our balcony was very pretty. All in all I would definitely recommend this place and if I go to Aswan again in the future I will stay here again.

SpainIt can be a bit hard to find the first time you arrive to Aswan. I forgot my cap in the minivan of the company that organized a tour to Abu Symbel and the staff didn't solve this issue on time.
The views from the hotel were amazing. The bunk bed was comfy enough and the staff was nice.

United StatesNothing. Very nice and helpful. Aswan as a whole has a lot of power outages so just bring a backup battery. More outlets in the rooms would help to...
The staff was nice, they were so helpful. travelers were great. Breakfast was typical. The bathrooms were clean. The bed was comfortable. The space outside to swim was nice, but could have been cleaned a bit more.

AustraliaA very nice place to stay. A bit more of an atmosphere created by the staff would benefit this place (as I’ve seen in other hostels in Egypt).
Fantastic hostel! Nice location on the edge of Aswan, short walk from all main attractions. The section of the hostel right on the river is an incredible spot to hang and take in the beauty of the Nile in Aswan. Swimming and kayaking possible. Nice facilities and management by Gandhi. Highly recommended!!

United KingdomI guess it could be more modern, more clean. but I guess that would take away from the authentic local feel is has. can't complain too much
the owner was exceedingly helpful and friendly! I felt very welcome and at ease. I arrived very early and he let me check in and helped carry my bag up. he then gave me suggestions and tips on where to go and how - avoiding having to go on pricy tours. because of him and the hostel I ended up extending my stay, I changed my plans and spent and extra 2 days! it's a bit of a walk and not the easiest to find but its a nice quiet location. rooms are nice and spacious and the common areas are great! you can rent kayaks, swim in the nile, there's a fire pit and chill areas overlooking the nile and at the hostel entrance. they even prepare you a packed breakfast/lunch if you are going on any early morning trips with them. I did the one to Abu Simbel. would stay again and recommend to others! made some nice friends at the hostel too. 10/10
