How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

The location, super local and very friendly people. David answer all our question and helped us to get where we wanted by phone. Be picked up us from the train station. We would stay again without doubt

No,I am very satisfied with my stay here.
David was always on hand to give particularly helpful advice, including arranging trips, going to the bus station, etc This is one of the best value hostels I have stayed in Aswan located in a local community and shop with local price and only 3 pounds to go to city center. If you want to experience the local life and are not in a hurry, I strongly recommend staying here for a longer time.

It's a perfect place to stay in Aswan. David is definitely one of the best Egyptians we have met during our journey around Egypt. He's a very hospitable and helpful person. We wish we could stay there more days.

The only minor thing was that the WiFi was slow, but that seems to be the case everywhere in Egypt.
David was really friendly and organised a lot of tours for us. Great dinner and breakfast included. When we left on a tour at 4 am we received a packed breakfast, which was really thoughtful. Great value for money.The private driver he organised was very friendly and really went out of his way for us.

The only downside I experienced during my stay at David Hostel was the noise from the street, which could be quite loud at times. However, it's important to note that this is beyond the hostel's control. Despite this minor inconvenience, the overall experience at David Hostel was overwhelmingly positive, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again on my next trip to Aswan
I recently stayed at David Hostel in Aswan, Egypt, and I couldn't have been more impressed. The attention and care provided by the owners were exceptional. They went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and safety throughout my stay. Mr. David himself was incredibly helpful in organizing tours and activities, making my visit to Aswan truly memorable. The accommodation itself is simple yet functional, offering everything a traveler needs for a comfortable stay. However, what truly sets David Hostel apart is the warmth and hospitality of the hosts. In a country like Egypt, which can sometimes feel daunting to navigate, their attention and care made all the difference. Overall, David Hostel offers excellent value for money, with attentive hosts who make you feel right at home. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Aswan.

actually I didnt go to Aswan, nor Davis hostel with payment, due to shortage of time. but when I asked David to help me reschdule the date, he happily agreed even.thought I coulnt make it at the end. He is such a nice guy. I would like to go there next time

The family were very nice. David is incredibly Helpful and will Go out of his way to make your stay positive. He gives a lot of helpful advice and will answer all of your questions. The Abu simel trip you can organise with him is great value for money I would recommend you go through him. Simple but lovely breakfast but even when you leave at 4am he prepares for you. For what you pay this hostel is fantastic value for money and you cannot complain as very cheap and incredibly kind and lovely man. The bed is comfortable and a towel is included and shower very warm too. I would 100% stay again and would highly recommend this place as you will have no problems or issues and will have a much better experience for all of the knowledge and help David gives you.

It was a noisy neighbourhood, not a fit for light sleepers.
David is probably the only person in Egypt that's not trying to scam you. He also has everything organised and prepared for you in every detail.

The location is not the best but most tours pick you up so that's fine.
We were for a few hours there but felt David is such a great host. Very flexible with check in time, he helped us reach the meeting point for a tour at 4am, the packed snacks/breakfasts is sooo thoughtful! Highly recommend!

This is a great backpacker place. We met lots of people here with very different backgrounds and we found the double room very clean and comfortable. David and his family were very welcoming and provided a lot of info. The included breakfast and dinner was a very nice touch and on a few occasions saved us when we couldn't find places open during Ramadan. Highly recommend.

It’s a place just like magic home. Whoever stays there will offer whatever they can to help each other. I felt so much warmth from David through Hany. The breakfast wasn’t amazing but enough to get by (especially considering the price!) but there were lots of shops nearby.
It was very comfortable, and relaxed. The host was amazing and gave us a lot of useful tips to get around. We had access to the kitchen too which was great.

The wifi is inexistant, don't expect anything about it from second floor. The host pretends there is a hided one but actually it never worded. Otherwise the bedroom are nice and confortable. Excellent value for money
