Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandNothing! Truly a little slice of paradise. The only thing I would change would be to stay for longer next time.
We loved the location, it felt nice and private but it was within easy pushbiking distance of several eating places. Mostly we loved the people, our host Tearoa was simply brilliant. She picked us up from the airport and without us having to ask she took us directly to a local store to get a few bits and pieces. When we asked about hiring bikes she made a phone call and had two delivered to our room, they got there even before we did! Nothing was too much trouble for her and she was genuinely warm and welcoming. On our last day we had a late flight home and Tearoa let us use our room well after check out time to ensure we were comfortable and could have showers etc before she came back to give us a ride to the airport. A truly relaxing few days with no worries or stress thanks to her!

New ZealandAitutaki Seaside is a lttle gem of a property. Basic facilities but all you need. A huge balcony gives the perfect view for all the whales that cruise by. Extremely private and away from everything and everyone. Perfect swimming spots ten minutes either way on the beach. The staff are so beautiful and kind. Lovely to talk to and if you need anything, it's never a problem. We wouldnt stay anywhere else!!! A hgue thank you to Te and Grace.

New ZealandThe kitchen cupboard doors are a bit 'sticky' at times. The only other improvement I could suggest is that the mattress is beginning to get a bit soft

New ZealandWe had a good sleep, even though the bed was too soft for my back. Waking up in the morning to no bottled water in the fridge got me by surprise . Make sure to buy what's needed on the way as there is no shops around. Tap water tastes funny after it's been boiled. Not sure if it's filtered.
Lovely host, transfer included, good communication. Great location! 2min drive from the Airport. Clean (smell nice) towels, beach is basically your front yard, private & peaceful. Kitchen utilities provided as well, super handy if you plan staying longer and going to cook your own food. Otherwise, nice local take is away 10min walk from the property.

New ZealandThe bed mattress, but that's because my bed at home is what I'm used to.
Supreme location on beachfront of the lagoon. From the moment you get off the plane you're met by Te Aroa ('T' for short). She is a knowledgeable & helpful local who takes you to pick up supplies from local shops & can answer whatever questions you may have. You are treated like a family guest. T will even organize your rental scooter, bicycle or car for you if required, so it is there upon your arrival or can take you to collect it. This place is peaceful, tranquil & away from the hubbub of tourist facilities. You self-cater or enjoy what delicious delights Aitutaki has to offer, the choice is yours! The kitchen is equipped with all the basic amenities you need. There's also a washing machine for you to use at your disposal & a small selection of books to read whilst you relax. Snorkeling is great in most places of the lagoon. BYO snorkeling gear & reef shoes (booties). There are 2x single kayaks & a double-seater kayak. Be as busy as you want or kickback and relax like we did for 9 days. This is our 2nd stay at Aitutaki Seaside & we'll be back again for sure.

Our wonderful host picked us up from airport (and dropped back) organised a scooter for us at the property, a dinner booking for at Tamanu Resort Restaurant (fantastic) along the road (by scooter) and a booking on the Vaka Cruise - absolute tops and so recommend - see Trip Advisor.

New ZealandThe location is slightly further away from the town centre so you do need your own transport to get around the island, didn’t bother us as we got scooters.
We are in a row of three beachfront bungalows, the view is beautiful and the location is very quiet, like having our private beach! The host Te provided airport transfers and even took us to the store after we arrived, a very personal touch.

New ZealandThe BBQ was unavailable. The wooden loungers were quite uncomfortable, as the provided swab was very thin. The entire lodge is dated and will need a refresh at some stage, but for the price, it suited our purposes and we will certainly book again.
The Seaside Lodges were located right on the beach, very close the the airport and a short scooter ride to Ootu Beach and Town. Self contained, with one King Bed (and we got a single bought in as well for our son), the lodges are comfortable, a little dated, but had most things we needed. Very relaxing, quiet. There are five lodges in a row (3 managed by Tearoa - who is very efficient and a lovely human) and another 2 (managed by someone else). The beach swimming is quite shallow, but you can easily walk 200m to find deeper water holes. Snorkelling was okay at the point (about 200m away), but if you want to snorkel and see a lot of fish, you need to book a tour and go out to One Foot Island, Honeymoon Island or the clam spots. We tended to swim mostly at Ootu. The lodge has a washing machine and dryer for guest use, free of charge. Toilet paper was provided. 4 of everything in the unit. (Plates, Cups, Glassware etc). We were provided linens, towels and beach towels. These are not serviced, but there is normally someone on site daily to assist. WIFI worked well (you just have to pay for it via Wifi code which was available for purchase from most dairies, petrol stations etc.) There was an outside table for 4, 4 x plastic chairs, 4 x wooden chairs and 2 x wooden loungers. Mosquito coils were also provided.
