Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsIt was hard to get ahold of staff with some questions. It was also a bit noisy but bring earplugs and you’ll be fine!
The hostel is very cute with the big tree in the lobby giving a sort of tree house vibe. We had private room, and it was spacious and with a/c! The location was great. There is a kitchen with everything you need. And Linda (a staff member) was such a nice person!

GuernseyHaving to pay $1 BZ every time I filled up my water bottle. In most hostels they provide drinking water free of charge.
Good hostel in the centre of San Ignacio. Has nice social areas and a fully equipped kitchen. The dorm rooms were clean and spacious.

NorwayThe bed was not so comfterable, and the bathroom wasn't so clean. But besides that everything was good!
Bella's is a great hostel to meet fellow traveler's and enjoy a beer with new friends. The upstairs kitchen, bar and diffrent hang out spots is a very nice place to relax or hang out with others. The dorm was nice although the bed was not so good.

NetherlandsMaybe sometimes the WiFi is a bit slow.
It's like a big tree house. There are small, cute seating areas in a lot of corners. The kitchen was well equipped, it even had a lot of herbs free to use. There is a small bar as well to buy a beer at night. Sometimes they organize some activities. And they can also recommend a lot of stuff.

AustraliaBeds were a thing foam mattress so lying on it for a moment created an indent, this made sleeping a bit uncomfortable but not a deal breaker.
Bella’s is in an excellent location and is ideal base for exploring San Ignacio and the surrounding region. The hostel is well laid out with clean bathrooms and plenty of space. Staff were friendly, their focus was on creating a party atmosphere and getting everyone to socialise, so if you were looking to go out or make friends its a great spot, but if you’re looking for something low-key there was no pressure to drink which was appreciated.

United KingdomThe bunk bed we stayed on was rickety and not a proper ladder to get up. Only one shower we found had hot water and only if you put it on a trickle.
Staff were really friendly and made everyone feels welcome. Activities organised every day so could meet people. Some hot water in one of the showers. Dorms are spaced out well. The hostel itself is lovely with a decent kitchen and lots of places to hang out. Perfect location in town, walking distance from chicken bus.

United StatesThe birds woke me up way too early, but at the same time, it was a nice experience. Just make sure you stay at a hotel after so you can get a good night's rest. There were no blankets, and it was cold during my stay, but I asked for a blanket for the second night and was provided one :)
Backpacking hostel, a way to save some money. A great way to meet people who can show you around. They had free rum punch from 6 - 9 pm at the bar and the chance to socialize and even share a blunt (if you're into that) The location was central, walking distance to a lot of food and tours. Exotic and underdeveloped. Birds woke me up every morning ( I will also include this in what I didn't like, lol)

CanadaThe bathrooms kind of suck with hot oops barely warm water in only one. Big dorm should be split in half for airflow and other problems.

AustraliaThe hostel owner's son runs the hostel. He is a very sweet kind boy but smokes way too much weed and sometimes he has no idea what's going on. We tried to book a bus for the following day through the hostel to get from Belize to Guatemala. He was super high and said that we had paid for the bus but we had no tickets and definitely had not paid. We had to wait for his girlfriend to get back to arrange the bus so that was a little bit stressful. He is a very kind boy though and when he wasn't baked he always helped out and mingle with the guests.
It feels like a three story tree house right in the centre of town. There are several different chill out zones, some more open and some tucked away, so if you want to be social or if you want to hide away by yourself you can. Our private room had a balcony which was nice. They organised something every night which was a nice way to be social and meet other backpackers. Whilst we were there we did a 5 way split on hiring a car to drive around and explore all the ruins. Very economical way to see everything.

United KingdomOne toilet wasn’t working for the first day so was a bit inconvenient as there was only one other in on the ground floor. Luckily it was fixed fairly swiftly. Fans we’re pretty noisy in the room but did keep the room cool enough to sleep. Not really big cons though I would happily stay again!
Loads of great areas to chill with hammocks. The staff were really helpful. Laundry service was a good price and quick, also smelt super clean and fresh. Amazing location, close to all restaurants. Perfect place to chill for a few days.
