Being this a hostel, we expected the very minimum, but it offered more then some fancy hotels we stayed at. Great value for money. Receptionists very kind and helpful. Fridge and table in the room, space for your luggage, coffee machine available. Easy parking. Great surroundings, near the Alabama Hills. All much appreciated.

From £99 per nightI have stayed at the Portal for over thirty years when I go on fishing trips to the eastern Sierra. Lata, the owner, is warm and friendly. The motel is conveniently located, fairly affordable, and offers great views of Mt. Whitney from the parking lot. There is a small refrigerator in the room to keep my beer cold and a small freezer part in the refrigerator to freeze my trout before the long trip back home through the desert. There is a little coffee pot in the room, with coffee, which is something I don't find in the Las Vegas hotels.

The small kitchen that was part of the room was neat and tidy and had a nice stove and working refrigerator that made my stay great. The AC of the room was a God send and kept the room quite comfy when it was turned on. Check in and out was simple and the staff was friendly.
