Let me ad 2 less obvious upsides: 1. You are free to make walks around the neighborhood to see, unguided and unguarded, the true rural Tanzania with friendly people, interesting landscapes, the real life. 2. For birdwatchers: the area is very productive with partly different set of species than those of Serengeti. The hotel is a natural base for Kilimanjaro hike, however, whichever part of North Tanzania you explore, if your home flight is from JRO (45’ drive) or Arusha (1.45h) you will want to stay for a couple of days at Pink Flamingo to relax after or before your African experience

Situated in Moshi, 44 km from Mount Kilimanjaro, Kilimanjaro Scenic Lodge features accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a bar. This lodge felt like an oasis. It is located near the dusty and noisy main road of Moshi but once you enter the yard of this lodge its caribbean flair overwhelms you. It is surprisingly calm and relaxing. It is obvious that the owner chose and designed every object in the yard and the rooms with the utmost care. The overall picture of the lodge is really stunning. I especially liked the open bar/restaurant and the swinging bed in the yard. The staff and the owner are extraordinarily friendly and the food is just delicious. There have not been so many customers, which surprised me a little. It might be because the lodge is still new. I think this lodge is particularly perfect for people that have just climbed or are about to climb the Kilimanjaro and are searching for some relief. You can also see the Kilimanjaro from the yard and the rooms. For us this lodge was a unique experience and we really recommend going there.

Offering views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Karanga River Lodge is located in Moshi and boasts a restaurant and 24-hour front desk. Free Wi-Fi access is available. I stayed here for the second time after coming back from safari. Again it was a great stay. Comfortable, nice people and the food in the restaurant is really amazing. I had lunch and dinner and it was excellent.

How the chalets are in the middle of banana trees and bamboo was breathtaking. The best view of mount Kilimanjaro from the property was beyond our expectations. They pay attention to us every time we need something . The price is reasonable compared to the quality of the property.. we will definitely come back again.

What a great breakfast buffet. Everyone is so kind and ready to do whatever they can to make sure you have the most pleasant stay. They even have a rooftop bar where you can have a drink in the afternoon and see Kilimandjaro.

First stop in mainland Tanzania and was just spectacular. Mille took care of all of our needs, cars, trips even my husband's dairy free birthday cake. Food was vegan/vegetarian and delicious at a fair price. Wifi worked great. Had a generator so that even when the power went out it came back on almost immediately.

Situated in Moshi, 35 km from Mount Kilimanjaro, Dual Mountain View Lodge features accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace. Staff at the hotel. Baraka gave me a guided walking tour to Mweka Gate. Chefs would create personalized meals for me. Facility was clean everywhere. Views around the property were awesome. Get to view Kilimanjaro when it is not hiding behind the clouds. Staff in general was very nice. Since the property is at 4500 ft, it helped me acclimatize a bit before start of Kilimanjaro Trek..
