Hotel Lara's Planet offers pet-friendly accommodation in El Castillo de La Concepción. The hotel has a barbecue and sun terrace, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. The location was great. The food was great - nice to have home-grown vegetables cooked well with the meals. The staff was helpful arranging tours and reserving the return boat. The room was comfortable. The views across the river from the dining area and the terrace below it were amazing.

Monkey neighbours may take responsability to set up the alarm clock to let you enjoy the jungle waking up. They have also been very helpfull for gathering necessary information on transfers to and from el castillo

Guacimo lodge sits in 40 hectare primary forest property situated close to El Castillo and Indio Maiz biosphere reserve. It features river view bungalows, a large rancho, a yoga deck and a pool. We had an excellent stay in Guacimo. The place itself is beautiful and the facilities were excellent, however it was the staff and excursions that made the trip so special. Manuel had been so helpful corresponding with us before the stay about the logistics of arriving at Guacimo. Our boat from San Carlos was full by the time we arrived and so Guacimo helped by sending their boat to collect us, without which we'd have been stuck for the night in San Carlos. They helped us arrange to see everything that we wanted to whilst there and gave us some great advice on where to go in Nicaragua after our stay at Guacimo. Gustavo was a brilliant guide and taught us so much about the local history & wildlife. Franklin was there to help with any and all queries we had and was great with helping us arrange our onward journey and Margarita cooked us the most wonderful food!

We stayed for two nights, once after arriving on the bus from Managua and then again when returning on the boat from El Castillo. It is in the perfect location for the bus terminal and boat port (2 minute walk). The rooms are basic but clean. Great value for money.

A great place to stay! A lovely old house, clean, comfortable and on a quiet street close to the centre for the bus and boats. The owners are extremely kind people, I needed to change my dates twice due to a chane of plans and then unforseen circumstances and they were very generous and understanding. I booked and stayed here both times I was in San Carlos. Overall, fantastic value and would absolutely recommend a stay here!

The owner was very helpful to make sure we had what we needed before leaving. Very nice Costa Rica typical breakfast. Great location a couple blocks off the highway from the big stores/bus station. 4 or so blocks from the river park and bank. Los Chiles is also a pretty quiet town, which was nice. The river front park is new too and nice for our kids. We will definitely stay there again next time we are coming through the area.

This is an amazing lodge run by Andrea and his wonderful team. Andrea provides wonderful boat tours to this exceptionally beautiful region. Cano Negro is a birder's dream and Andrea will make the experience even better. In his lodge alone you can see more than 100 species including the beautiful toucans and also rare wrens and all kind of colorful Tanagers and of course the famous Cano Negro waterbirds. You can also see the usually very shy Spider Monkeys very close when they visit his garden. Well done and we come again!

No food in the evening, but a superb restaurant next door meant that that was no hardship.
