This hotel is amazing. It is few steps from the station, few minutes walk from the center, the room was the most spacious I had during my three week travel to Japan. It also had a full equipped kitchen and a great washing machine.

Everything was great. I'd absolutely stay here again and again. The staff was not fluent in English but they were very helpful and used a translating app to speak to us. The room was clean, breakfast was great, the sauna and hot springs (2 large bath tubs) were amazing as well. 5 Stars.

The name is Hostel, but it has a worth than a 5 star hotel. The room was very spacious and it has a kitchen and dining table and even a separated tea room. The breakfast is also fantastic. All food is fresh and healthy. The location is also one of the best things, just few minutes on foot from the train and bus station. I strongly recommend this hotel to all tourists.

Well situated in Takayama, Temple Hotel Takayama Zenkoji offers air-conditioned rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge. This 4-star hotel offers a shared kitchen and luggage storage space. We (my wife and I) stayed in the Zenko-Ji Temple hotel for one night and had a fantastic experience. We were greeted warmly right from the beginning by the friendly staff and could check in despite arriving a bit before the check-in time. After the quick check-in we had a small tour of the place and got an introduction to the temple and the various possible activities we can partake in. We had a lovely room (Sakura room), nothing fancy but very fitting to the place itself- traditional, simplistic yet comfortable. The next day we joined the morning prayer at 7:00 am which is highly recommended. Afterwards we also had a meditation session with the head monk who runs the temple/hotel. It was a great experience with some useful insights about meditation. Overall I would highly recommend staying here. It's not a place for a fancy stay but a place that can offer an insight to Buddhism in Japan, where you can have lovely conversations with the friendly staff and enjoy a peaceful environment.

Hotel was very clean and staff were very helpful. If driving, you can temporarily park in front of hotel and offload bags, then park in nearby lot for 500 yen. Hotel is connected to and has free access to a beautiful and delightful public onsen bath. There is a washer and dryer on both the men’s and women’s side of the bath, but no coin changer. You probably need to bring laundry soap as well. Delicious Japanese breakfast for about 1000 yen per person.
