Situated in the heart of Lijiang Ancient Town, 7 to 8 minutes' walk from Dashuiche and Square Street, Jianshe Inn offers simple Japanese-style accommodation. A 10 star rating is an understatement for the hospitality and warmth we received. The location is beautiful, a stunning terrace with an overview of the old town, lots of plants and pretty flowers. We got a room upgrade for free and the room was spacious, well equipped (best equipped room in fact we had in China). You can tell that a lot of love and attention to detail was put into the design of this accomodation. The location is very central yet quiet at night. The highlight of it all was the lovely, generous and genuine owner. She took time to recommend us great restaurants and vegetarian dishes. Checked in on us regularly to make sure we are having a great time. And when I was sick she even brought food and medicine. It felt like home and being taken care of by family. I have never experienced such a hospitality and am very grateful. I highly, highly recommend this place when you're visiting Yunnan. The owner has travelled all over the world and has lots of interesting stories and insights to share, definitely recommend you to have a chat with her over tea.

Shangri-la is an interesting place to stay for a day in yunnan, especially for Songzanlin monastery. Though I think it was not the best part of my trip in North Yunnan and I would recommend to go there only as a stop inbetween two hikes (from Tiger Leaping Gorge to the Meili Snow Mountains as for my own case)

Dali is such a wonderful place to experience the culture and tradition of Bai people in Yunnan. It is so vibrant with it's nature and architecture. The Cangshan Mountain is a wonder and a place to visit when you are in Dali. Don't forget to visit the farmer's market and blend in with the locals since they are nice and friendly.

Shangri-la is a really nice little town.
Shangri-la is a really nice little town. It's far more interesting than nearby Lijiang or Dali. Take a look at the Shiki Mountain and Napa Sea that are really close by. You can even walk there. The town has lots of charming little restaurants and bars and shops, and is more reasonably priced than other Yunnan tourist towns.

Authentic taste Yunnan! The old town is still being re-built after the fire but it feels authentic. Much better than Lijiang! The scenery is spectacular and there is a lot to do in this area if you like nature and if you want a real taste of China.

The weather is the main attraction here, as being tropical it was a big change from Yunnan. Lots of options for jungle/forest daytrips, and some lovely parks, pavillions and pagodas to while away your time in town - we walked a lot! Tons of riverside development underway and the city will change quickly as a result. Elephant Valley is v nice daytrip, but don’t expect to see the very shy wild elephants, just watch the trained ones and hope you get extremely later.

Many days with blue skies, temperature in winter is not too bad, people are genuine, the new underground Metro system makes it much easier to get around although it is still under expansion. Great base for further travels in Yunnan.

Kunming is a beautiful Chinese city in Yunnan Province. It will be a centre and gateway for Chinese and South East Asian travellers either for tourism, business, and tertiary education. The city has a very reliable public transportation structure and this will ease new travellers woes. Food is still cheap but those with a tinge of Western influence can be pricey. Perhaps during the cold season, the tourism authority can offer insights on how best travellers can witness and enjoy the city's landmarks. Moreover, the city in winter is constantly blanketed with thick mist and thus perhaps there could also be information as to whether travelling to sights are feasible.

It is a great destination and base for seeing Yunnan Province, Would recommend Western Hills, Stone Forest,Fuxian Lake and Yuxi ,all nearby and easily accesible by rail. Food as amazing. Bus travel more problematic if you don't know the language.Would definitely return.

The owner helped all new guest take beautiful pictures with Erhai. They helped me with using Alipay, WeChat Apps for making payments, ordering taxi and deliveries. The owner even drove me to the bank and helped me put money in my WeChat Wallet so I could continently make payments with WeChat for the rest of my trip in Yunnan. I highly recommend this small hotel to anyone.

The apartment (2 rooms and bathroom) is spacious and clean and the bed is comfy. The owners are super-friendly and own tea-plantations in Yunnan and Laos, and can explain loads about tea. In the reception room there is a big tea table where tea can be drunk all day long for free.

It absolutely blow my mind - the best place I stayed not only in Dali but probably in the whole of Yunnan and maybe the best hotel I lived in China! I love everything, the location, the room, the staff help me with everything I need, the breakfast it's delicious and the portion it's too big, I can't finish. The cat it's cute too, in the future if I return to Dali I will stay here again.
