The property is in the Old city and very close to the Bazaar and all the restaurants, cafeteria and historic sites in Gjirokaster. We've had an amazing time and I truly recommend Maria and her lovely house.

One of the best rooms we have ever booked! We liked it so much!! Very clean and beautiful room, perfect location (near to the center). The owners very friendly and the did the best for us. We ate also dinner in the hotel's restaurant and we ate delicious and traditional albanian food!! The breakfast was full!! Our room (double deluxe) had perfect view and was perfect decorated! 🥰

Philippines
Among all the homestays/hotels that I’ve stayed at, Guest House Urat is truly one of the most memorable. This family-run inn is fantastic in so many ways. First, they pick you up at the bus station at no extra charge. I arrived in Gjirokaster by bus at an ungodly hour (3 am) and the son’s owner, Mario picked me up by car at the station. I also asked if I can withdraw some LEK and he dropped me off at the ATM along the way. Second, the location is unbeatable. It’s just a short walk to the castle and if you wanna visit the Old Town, you can either take the bus or walk downhill for five minutes. The bus also stops close to the guest house. There are plenty of lovely restaurants nearby including Khardashi which specializes in traditional Albanian dishes. Third, the rooms are spacious, homey and tastefully decorated. My bed was comfortable and warm. My room had a spacious private bathroom plus a balcony with a charming view of the stone houses and the castle. Fourth, a lovely breakfast is included consisting of bread, fried egg, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, and a platter of fresh fruits (kiwi and bananas) for dessert. Yum! Fifth, the guest house was not wanting in amenities. WiFi is pretty strong and the hot water is reliable. They also have a store outside where you can purchase some water, snacks, fruits and other essentials. Best of all, the warmth and hospitality of the owners are beyond compare. Mario and his mom were fantastic hosts and made me feel like I was part of the family rather than a guest. It’s a shame that I only stayed here for two nights as Gjirokaster has so much to offer. On my final day, Mario even drove me to the bus station at no cost so I just gave him a good tip. Guest House Urat has set the bar very high for homestays and showed me true Albanian hospitality. I cannot wait to come back.

Lovely place and people. The owner waited us till very late to check in as we were travelling by car from Tirana and we faced some unpredictable delays. He was really nice,polite and helpful. The room was very pretty with traditional elements that made it very charming. Full size amenities in the bath and the best of even kids slippers for our kid! Everything looked after in detail. Breakfast very local and tasty ! Especially the pie and the traditional minute made dough donuts!!!

Marcel and his family who run the place were Albanian hospitality at it's best!! The food is entirely homemade and the wine they serve is from thier own vineyard! Marcel 's mum bakes some of the best bread. They have two dogs, a cat and lots of poultry. I couldn't recommend this place enough! This gem is also only a 10 min drive from the main town. A special shout out to Ada (Esmeralda) for her patience and hard work !!

Staff was very available and kind and the reserved parking lot is a big plus. Breakfast was also great, with fresh Albanian petullas and other fresh local products. The room was clean, the building is a typical Gjirokaster building.

A spacious villa with a yard entirely for us with free parking. The center is not even 5 mins walk away. We were very happy with the service and communication with our host. The hosts are very nice and a real family. Another thing that touched us is that they have pets very well cared, a nice female dog Zara and a family cats with the mom and their two kittens lovely and loved! breakfast is also very good and jam is homemade and delicious! We really recommend this place!
