Waking up to a clear blue sky and all the peaks in view on Nov. 7 was an unforgettable experience.

It is ideally located for fishing, cycling and gliding. Owner is very kind to lend us bike, olive oil, and vinegar for short-distance trips and cooking in the kitchen of the room. The property is well-equipped with basically whatever you need! Check-in was also speedy and owner as always gave a bottle of milk though we are lactose intolerant.

Mountain Chalets Motel is just 750 metres from Ben Ohau Golf Course, and 10 minutes’ drive from Lake Pukaki. The Ohau Ski Fields are 35 km away, and Timaru Airport is a 2-hour drive away.

The tour desk can book Lord of the Rings tours and trips to Mount Cook National Park. The motel also offers bicycle rental and a guest laundry. Great value for simple place to stay. Nothing extraordinary but met our expectations and we'd stay there again.
