Must line up first thing in the morning. Site opens at 8:00am, be there by 7:30 and you'll be the first one up. Head up the hill asap, you'll enjoy the sights with a few other people for 15mins before the crowds head up. Explore the other sites on your way down.

Not suitable for people with walking issues . Only if u have a special kind of card they provide u wheelchair access road which might not be possible for people coming from a foreign country . I would take this opportunity to appreciate united states . Each and every of there man made attractions are very accessible . Also to avoid massive queues, check if there are large cruise ships due in that day and choose another day. If you want to avoid crowds while seeing the famous sights, start out early and be at the sights when they open. I arrived at the Acropolis around 8:10 AM and there were only around 20 people on the whole compound. It was wonderful! There was a crowd climbing the hill when I descended, though!

Consider visiting Athens in May or September. May is just lovely. Spring flowers like poppies and daisies cover the hills. It's not too busy and not too hot. Remember that on holidays you are always moving so consider the weather when you make your plans. Also, research opening hours as the Acropolis is closed May 1; and other Ancient Landmarks are closed on certain days and on certain hours any other day.
