Catch the 9am early bird train if you can, the fare is...
Catch the 9am early bird train if you can, the fare is slightly discounted. Takes one hour to get there, half hour for sightseeing (depending on weather!) and an hour back down. The half hour on the summit goes by in a flash, just enough time to climb to the summit(reasonable degree of mobility required), buy a cuppa, visit facilities and then the whistle goes for the return journey. Recommend dressing warmly, we left in glorious sunshine which lasted until 50ft from the top when we drove through a heavy mist to the top. It was misty and raining when we got off the train and when we left it had just started to snow, followed immediately by a hail storm. 5 mins later down the track and it was glorious sunshine again 🌞JoanUnited Kingdom
