Behind our dikehouse is holiday home “De Koolboet”, which dates back to the 1930s. It served as a cabbage barn till the 1970s. In recent years we have put a lot of time into the renovation of the barn and we are proud that we are now able to share the result with you. It has become a holiday home with a large living room (+-38m2) with a beautiful reading corner with a comfortable chair, desk and DAB radio, a spacious dining table, two 2-person sofas, LED TV and of course great wifi. The fully equipped kitchen has a refrigerator, dishwasher, gas stove, water boiler and coffee machine. The lovely bathroom contains a shower, toilet, a sink with mirror, a hairdryer, soap, shampoo and towels. There are two attractive bedrooms (both +-13m2) which have lovely double beds (160x200cm) with a choice of pillows in different hardnesses; so there is something for everyone. There is also thought of enough storage space for your clothes. All this is completely new. The house is accessible via the rear of the plot and there is plenty of parking space. On the side is the entrance to the holiday home with a terrace, spacious enough for 4 people.

At 900m there is a Lidl supermarket where fresh bread rolls can be picked up for a delicious breakfast and 1km south along the canal you will come across the monumental mill "De gouden Engel" with restaurant "De Molenschuur" next to it. The surroundings are beautiful. At the back is nature reserve Geestmerambacht visible which is within walking distance. Here you can practice various water sports including swimming. On the other side of the Noordhollandsch canal there is a view of the villages of Bergen and Schoorl which are accessible by bike via the raft bridge and bicycle viaduct. Bergen is known as an artists' village and has a cozy center around the Ruin Church while Schoorl is known for the North Holland nature reserve with the highest and widest dunes in the Netherlands. If you cycle/drive down the canal towards the south you end up in the city of Alkmaar with nice shopping streets, several restaurants, a lot of history and of course the cheese market. It is really worthwhile to take a city walk. Alkmaar has been named the greenest city in Europe in 2022. In Broek op Langedijk, which is 5 km to the east from the holiday home, there is an indoor shopping center and museum Broekerveiling where the oldest vegetable auction (boat pass through auction) of the world.
