Welcome In the middle of the old polder landscape of the Zeevang lies the friendly village of Middelie. In this oasis of peace and space we would like to welcome you. You are our only guest(s) in our garden house. It has its own entrance and has a simple kitchenette. On request, at additional cost, we serve an excellent breakfast there at your own table. If the weather permits, this can also be done outside. In and around this cottage there is plenty of space to quietly recover from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The surroundings are extremely suitable for cycling tours. In addition to unspoiled nature you will find picturesque places like Edam, Volendam and Marken within a short distance. Amsterdam can also be reached within half an hour. Middelie has no public transportation, so a private car is essential. You can park for free at 50 m distance. You can park your bike in our carport. Your hostess In 2006 I started this b&b. The reason was my early retirement. I was a French and Dutch teacher for more than 30 years. I missed the school, students and colleagues. To fill that void, I started the b&b that gave me great pleasure from the beginning: so many people from so many different countries and backgrounds. Because I love languages and speak several, I can help my guests feel at home and can provide them with the necessary information. Since a few years I am helped by my husband Coen. We both know how important a vacation is. It gives us great pleasure to see how guests leave their stress behind in just a few days. If they are completely rested and satisfied when they leave, that is our greatest gift. We speak English. Karin van der Kamp
Surroundings Middelie lies in the middle of the North Holland polder landscape and is surrounded on all sides by green meadows with wide ditches and canals that characterize this peat meadow area. The surroundings are ideal for making short or longer cycling trips. Especially in spring you can enjoy the many meadow birds. Middelie does not have public transportation. The nearest bus stop is 3 km in Edam. In the vicinity are a number of old towns that experienced their greatest prosperity some three hundred years ago through trade and fishing. For example, Edam, with its cheese warehouses and Grote Kerk is more than worth a visit. Volendam has its harbor and dike, Marken the characteristic green wooden houses and Monnickendam the small tranquil canals. Purmerend has a shopping center, a goods market on Tuesdays and on the Koemarkt many catering establishments. A stone's throw away are also the Zaanse Schans, Hoorn, Alkmaar and Amsterdam, the largest tourist attraction in the Netherlands. From Middelie it is fairly easy to reach the North Sea beach or the island of Texel.
