Guest House Toranjyo-lit is set in Tamano, 60-minutes from Takamatsu via ferry and 60-minutes from Okayama via train or bus. Guests can enjoy the on-site cafe. This was one of our favourite accommodations on our trip! We stayed here as a buffer day between traveling between Ishikawa and Naoshima but we wish we could have spent longer - lots of privacy, in a great area, and the staff were so helpful and friendly, they really went over and beyond helping us to plan our following days in Naoshima. The guesthouse was cosy and had everything you could think to need!

The room is huge and very comfortable! It looks a bit dark on the photos, but it's so much better then that! It's right in the center of the old village, but you won't hear anything from the outside really. The seating area is really nice and we loved the provided breakfast. The kitchen is beautiful and convenient as well. The bathroom is really spacious.

From a welcome drink and treat, to sleeping kimono to use, to afternoon drinks and treats. They even made reservations for us at a head spa and gave us excellent restaurant recommendations. This little hotel which I mainly booked to break up our driving journey between destinations turned out to be a little gem. It was quaint clean and had a beautiful traditional Japanese garden outlook from our room and the best dinner we had in Japan. The food was top notch and so delicious it melted in your mouth. Definitely book the meal option 😊

Nestled in the beautiful countryside, Okayama Hostel Igusa is a traditional 50-year old Japanese-style home that has been renovated into a guesthouse. It was such a beautiful place! Rooms were very comfortable and had an amazing traditional Japanese vibe. The common room was spacious and looked out into the garden. Don't let the location scare you off!
