The property is a calm oasis, with a gorgeous garden and beautiful art pieces from around the world on every floor. The furnishings are very tasteful and enhance the Georgian design. Our breakfasts were a highlight,and some of the best we’ve had. Rowena is a masterful cook and baker (her sourdough homemade bread is addictive). Her husband Tom gave us great suggestions on where to go and eat. We wished we had more time to try everything on his list!

It was an amazing experience to stay at Straven Guesthouse. I felt at home, the bed was very comfortable and the room was beautiful and warm. Breakfast was a whole variety of delicious dishes, home made and beautiful. The sea front is only a few steps away and I enjoyed walking along the sea promenade to the cafés - and walking along the sea shore. I felt looked after and cared for by Sinead and Chris. I loved my room ,the fresh and delicious breakfast, the owner are very kind and helpful. I felt that I am a family member. The location is very good , the guesthouse is in a nice quite street, and we can reach the famous touristic places by public transport easily . I am sure that I will choose the guesthouse again.

Set 1.1 km from Butterfly & Insect World, Glenarch House is in Dalkeith and features a garden and a terrace. The accommodation is 2.1 km from the Dalkeith Country Park. A beautiful setting with charming and quiet rooms. Great hosts! Restaurants and grocery within walking distance and travel to Edinburgh was easily accessible by bus. A perfect way to wrap up our time in Edinburgh.
