La Case Miel Vanille features a restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, a bar and shared lounge in Sainte-Anne. The property has a garden, as well as a terrace.
“Lionel is a charming and personable host. The house is his own home, clean and well maintained, and he welcomes you like family. He's a fabulous cook, and features local vegetables, fruits, and sauces. He can provide dishes with local meat and fish, as well as vegetarian options. We had planned to eat at restaurants, but asked him to prepare a meal the first night because we would arrive in Guadeloupe late. The excellent food and enjoyable talk with the other guests convinced us to dine there multiple times. In the end, we ate "at home" 4 of the 8 nights during our stay.
The location is a 15-20 minute drive from the nearest beaches, but is very quiet and private, on a small bluff, surrounded by views of the forest. The host is knowledgeable about the island and has lots of recommendations about beaches, hikes, and restaurants. We used the central location to explore a different beach every day, exploring extensively the Grande-Terre side of the island. We also explored Basse-Terre on 2 days, but this requires more driving. Although we thoroughly enjoyed our days swimming and relaxing on different beaches, our favorite part of our trip was sitting around the table in the evenings with the other guests, enjoying dinner, wine, and conversation together. Lionel joins the table and provides interesting insights about the island, its flora, fauna, history, and culture. Unless your plans require a beachside location, this is a delightful place to stay! You won't regret it.”
