Where to start… this place is amazing.
The cabin is situated on the hills outside of Ål facing the south. When the sun comes up you will get plenty of sunlight. The view from the cabin is unmatched, especially during sunrise and sunset. There are a few cabins nearby but they were empty during our stay which meant plenty of privacy and solitude.
The cabin is fully equipped with everything that you can expect.
Due to a storm at sea our boat arrived way later than expected which meant that we arrived past midnight. The owner was waiting down in the village and guided us up the mountain to the cabin where a warm house with a burning fire was waiting. Can’t thank him enough. We had plenty of fun with the sledges on the roads near the cabin.
Geilo is a 35min drive.
You can charge your EV at the house. The village itself has plenty of (Tesla) superchargers.
Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who would like to visit Norway during winter!
Situated by Road 7, this family-run property offers cottages and apartments, just 5 minutes’ drive from central Geilo. Cross-country ski tracks begin right outside the door.

It was good, nothing to complain about. The cottage was basic but equipped with everything needed and the house with bathroom and toilets was very clean and modern. There was also a sauna and a washing machine one could use.
Offering closeness to nature, Birkelund is set in a mountain area 17 km from Geilo town centre. It offers basic cottages with a patio and shared bathroom facilities.

Very nice and peaceful area with comfortable distance between the cottages. You can access with your vehicle next to the cottage what's great for luggage and motorcycle riders. First impression with a host was strange, like he is unhappy that I arrived, but after few minutes of conversation he provide me with all informations, services related to my accommodation and I understood that he is just a little shy. I red some negative reviews concerning this issue and I disagree. It's easy to judge but difficult to understand the peoples.
