It’s a small town that has the most amazing beaches. Has loads of tavernas to try different food every night. I love the fact it’s full of Greeks and not too many tourists for a more genuine experience

Lerapetra is not one of the main tourist destinations on Crete but well worth a visit.
There are more than enough restaurants and bars along the seafront, with a nice compact centre of town.
Only thing to note is that with the closure of Chrissi Island, there are effectively no tourist trips from Lerapetra. For this you would need to travel to the north side of the island.

The town is awful!
The town is awful!
Almost all the restaurants and cafeterias were closed.
We were looking for a park for our son to play and we only found one in the whole town. It was dirty, smelly and full of kids so my child could not play there.
Never coming back again!

Ierapetra -as a city- is not very beatiful, although the beach/port route is quite good.
However, it is the perfect place for visiting some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, including "Kakkos", "Psaropoula", "Agia Fotia", "Achlia", "Psari Forada" and others - since it is located in front of the Libyan Sea. You can also visit "Chryssi" - an worldwide known exotic island just near by, and at the same time you have access to extremely high quality (and low cost) food.

We stayed in Ierapetra for just 24 hours. We found that city was much developed, in a good meaning. Dedicated streets for pedestrians and bikes, updated sea walk area. Please visit "Casablanca" all day cafe-restaurant, with very good coffee (Fredo) and very tasty international and local dishes.

Authentic Greek town with really nice, friendly atmosphere where you can live and feel yourself a part of it.
Great eating out options, pastries, amazing shopping and welcoming, pleasant Greek people!
Accommodation was fantastic. Apartment is brand new with both dishwasher and washing machine available. There is a large fridge with the freezer, so you can stock up ingredients if you like home cooking. AC is available in every room. There is also excellent WiFi, table tennis and swings. Plenty of secure car parking. Our host was superb and helpful during our stay. Nearby beaches (10+ minutes drive) are excellent and were never crowded. Ierapetra town centre is 10 minutes drive with plenty of restaurants with excellent food.
Big Blue Suites 2 is in an amazing location! Quiet and close to everything. There is a great bakery and grocery stores nearby as well as many restaurants. The view from the apartment is amazing. Manos was a wonderful host. He was very helpful and kind. He always answered our questions right away. He brought us a lovely bag of fresh veggies one day! The kitchen is well equipped, the beds comfy and the water hot! I would not hesitate to recommend this place.
The backdrop to the hotel is stunning and while the surrounding coastal area is not as postcard pretty as some places, the tavernas were authentic - lovely people and food. Views up in the mountains are breath taking. The DJ sessions around the pool were really impressive - and service friendly and extremely efficient. The layout of the hotel made full use of the wonderful flora - all very uplifting and relaxing.
Spacious, quiet, clean and plenty of facilities. Infrastructure pretty good like new. Surprised by the fact that coming back from the sea in a really hot day, when you are opening the door it is like you had air conditioning on. Obviously it is extremely well sealed. You can go swimming in two beaches by foot. It is very close to the harbour of Ierapetra and any needed market. Recommend for families.
The hotel was spotless and beautifully designed. A lot of thought has gone into making it special. The staff were all amazing, friendly, helpful, professional and went above and beyond to make our stay as relaxing as possible. It was my birthday and I was made a cake which was so kind...the food in the restaurant was tasty, varied and always hot!

Spacious hotel with large lounge with a excellent view to the impeccable pool and the unique beauty of gardens. Clean, beautiful decorated, modern and luxury furnitures in the suite and the rates were reasonable. This will be my lovevly place when I'll come again to Ierapetra.
quiet place a short distance from the old town, absolute cleanliness and comfortall- information on the site is true, the owners are kind people, a great starting point if you want to explore the eastern part of Crete and believe me there is much to see
The staff of Petra Mare hotel were so kind and helpful to us during our stay at Crete. They helped us plan some of the road trips we took and it was very pleasing. Thank you so much for such great hospitality :)
This comfy aparthotel is in the heart of Ierapetra. The waterfront balcony was just perfect. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. A real value for money option for a comfortable stay. Would recommend.
Really nice hotel with private beach and 2 pools. Good selection of food and drinks. Entertainment/Animation was mainly for kids, but we stayed in May, so hopefully during summer it is better,
