The owners and staff were so friendly and made us very welcome. The food was good and the breakfast was excellent. There was plenty of it. In the restaurant they always topped the bread and tap water up for no extra charge..

Amazing location 20’ by foot from the train station and Coop (they pick you up by car and drive you to the hotel for free if you ask them), literally IN the forest with beautiful hiking trails starting from the hotel. Very quiet, beautiful, and wild - with the quality of a 4 star hotel.

The hotel is very good, it is cozy small hotel owned and run by a family (as we can understand). The room was small, but cozy and clean, the view from the room was perfect. Breakfast was also good (not so many types of food as you can see in some big hotels, but it was tasty and there was enough tasty food to eat).
We could not come early, so we had to ask the owners for a late check-in (after 11 pm) and they were very nice to us, so we checked in without any problems, many thanks for that!

We went in late summer and walked in a different part of the surrounding mountains every day. Good cable car access to or from higher areas but also options to walk to the mountains/lakes from Kandersteg. Local buses and trains are free with the area guest pass and there is 20% off cable car fares. Several restaurants to choose from for meals and coop etc to buy picnic. Beautiful village. Only 2 hour train journey from Basel. Kandersteg tourist office website has info on many local walks with interactive maps.

At the altitude of Kandersteg, wildflowers are at their peak in early to mid June.
The place is suitable for children (the Rodelbahn), the more accomplished climbers (the Via Ferrata), and everyone in between. It's a gateway to beautiful places for hikers of various abilities, e.g. the Gasterntal, the Allmenalp, the Gemmi Pass, the Oeschinnensee, the various alpine huts. Perhaps that's why the International Scouts Centre is situated in Kandersteg.
Everything within the village is within a 10-minute walk. Anything further can be reached by hourly bus service (free with guest card).

Kandersteg is a clean and beautiful town near alpine hikes,...
Kandersteg is a clean and beautiful town near alpine hikes, ski areas with activities in summer, bicycling, and many other outdoor activities, all with spectacular scenery. We used Kandersteg as a place to rest with a day-hike between longer hikes in the SAC huts above tree-line, which require a lot more strenuous hiking to reach. The Oeschinensee is spectacular, and also fascinating from a geotechnical engineering perspective.
I had booked a hotel the last week before my vacation, so the choice of hotels was limited. We came to Kandersteg for hiking and beautiful surroundings, so we didn't find fault with the hotel.
The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. The staff is really best thing of this hotel.
Breakfast was small and tasty, but the selection of cheeses and hams could have been more.
In the evening we went out to the village and I want to note that all restaurants in Kandersteg serve the same set of dishes, but of different quality)
We got an upgrade for a room with a jaccuzi. Room was big, comfortable, very nice bed and pillows. The jaccuzi opening to the terrasse was really nice. And the view on our private terrasse was amazing. The cleaning team does an amazing job, all the facilities were impeccable.
The hotel team was really nice.
They also have a spa and a pool, which we also enjoyed.
The location of the hotel is perfect to do all the activities in Kandersteg and the region.
I stayed 4 nights and I've had such a pleasant stay, everything was just perfect: beautifuly decorated, lovely and clean rooms, attention to details ,amazing wellness spa, great breakfast, lovely staff and a warm vibe in general. Claudia and Gerhard are the loveliest and most welcoming hosts i've ever met , always there happy to help. The hotel is very close to gondola just 5 min walking. I highly recommend it for solo travelers.
Jasmine, the hotel proprietor was very nice and accommodating. The continental breakfast was good, but the fresh bread and pastries provided from the bakery across the parking lot were great. The hot fresh pizza right from the hotel’s pizza oven was delicious. We asked Jasmine where could find a laundry mat, and she offered to do it for us for $10. The views of the Alps from our room were amazing!
run by the owners who took a personal interest in the happiness of their guests. they provide guests with a card good for fee lift to the lake, free breakfast, and more personal services than any other hotel I’ve stayed in the hotel oozes charm and friendliness. it is clean and quiet with a great location. great breakfast.
Great for a stay with the family. Plenty of space, fantastic views from the balcony, a nice kitchen... really felt at home. The playground was a big plus, along with the playroom. Also Kandersteg is a great base for exploring the area. Easy for trips to Blausee and Oeschinensee and a number of other easy half day trips.
Great location to explore Kandersteg, I can't say much about the staff or the restaurant as it was unexpectedly closed when we checked-in. Keys were left on the counter with no staff manning the desk. Rooms were adequate, I think it's a nice place to stay if you're looking for a clean bed and quiet area.
The receipt was very welcome as I knew the person from last year in another hotel Kandersteg. We talked quite a bit and he kindly explained the hotel and its background. He even arranged a table for me although the restaurant normally requires prior reservations.
Probably the best location of any hotel we ever been too, absolutely stunning surroundings. Don’t let stories about the difficult road there put you off, we drive a Vito van and it went up there perfectly fine. The staff were very kind and the food was great
the coolest place to stay in switzerland, a chic house with a gorgeous view of the mountains, perfect cleanliness, the house has everything you need, a helpful owner who is always in touch. This is the best place I have ever been to.
Very large apartment with a great view and location. They served an excellent breakfast with very helpful staff and had an excellent restaurant adjacent to the hotel. Also the hotel offered free and ample parking spaces.
Breakfast was nice. It was near the train station and city center, the surroundings were nice and there was a nice lake behind the hotel. The restaurant food was delicious.
The hotel room I got was huge. The location of the hotel is in the middle of Kandersteg, easy to reach by train and bus. Staff were friendly, breakfast was also great.
It was a wonderful stay. Staffs are really friendly. Room was super clean. Hotel is in good location. Breakfast was good. My overall experience is great.
