The Hotel Dumanov is an excellent hotel, with really friendly and helpful staff, who went out of their way to help me find a day sac I left behind in a local taxi. Bansko is a city that captures the heart with its stunning...
Bansko is a city that captures the heart with its stunning beauty, effortlessly blending picturesque landscapes with the quaint charm of its streets. However, visitors should be wary of the numerous tourist traps that dot the city, often overshadowing its genuine offerings. Despite this, with a bit of diligence and local insight, one can uncover hidden gems like the small family-run 'mexana' we were fortunate to find. Serving homemade food with warmth and authenticity, it stood out as a beacon of traditional hospitality amidst a sea of commercialized eateries.
On the flip side, the popularity of Bansko's ski slopes comes with its own set of challenges, notably the excessive queues for the gondola lift, which can significantly dampen the skiing experience. Opting for a bus ride to the slopes proved to be a wise decision, bypassing the long wait and leading us directly to the well-maintained pistes. While Bansko offers much in terms of scenic beauty and skiing opportunities, visitors must navigate its less appealing aspects to fully enjoy what this charming city has to offer.

We didn`t know Bansko was so popular with the British 19/ 30 groups so when we arrived (09.00 o`clock in the eving we were shocked by noise and amount of drunken people in the streets and bars. I is like Benidorm in Spain. Bansko is to big for her wintersport facilities so the skilifts were totally overrrun and the lower pistes were way to busy. Up 3 hours waiting time on some days on the gondola. Prices for ski passes, equipment rental etc are really ok . Altough the pistes are nice they were way to busy. Food in restaurants and drinks are way overpriced.
Very friendly server Vlad looked after us very well during our stay. We felt very welcomed and comfortable, we would love to come back and stay again.
Our studio room was super cosy but also nice and spacious. I liked the old traditional style. The whole building is very historical and authentic.
Breakfast was great with traditional bulgarian breakfast buffet that changed slightly every day.
Located right in the middle of the ski lift and the old town so didn't have to walk far to get around.
Lovely stay. Thank you!
The hotel and ski area facilities, the hotel staff particularly Polly who was so friendly and polite with us. Breakfast was absolutely brilliant and the attention and service were excellent.
The hotel facilities and room were completely spotless and comfortable.
We used mostly all of the facilities offered and they exceed our expectations.
They have a transfer to Bansko town which was working at our convenience.
They have a kid area which was very important for us.
Great hotel in a great location with spa facilities. The hotel staff have exceptional standards in engaging with the guests and providing top-class customer service from check-in to checkout. It is 5 mins walk to Gondola and Main Street with all the restaurants. Hotel provides shuttles to/from Gondola and their Thermal waters in Banya (15 mins away).
Room cleaning was very well done every day. The room had kitchen facilities, balcony and stunning view of the mountains.
We were family with 4 (adults) of what 3 (me and kids) are advanced skiers and one (my wife) not so. Skiing was enjoyable mostly as there was no big que on Gondola and slops were really nice, until afternoon when they get damaged due to worm weather. Hotel was on nice upper location, enabling long walks through the woods in free time, which was exceptional. Also swimming pool and jakuzi were with hot spa water were delightful.
Night clubs are worth to visit.
The location is perfect, 5min walk to the ski lift. The staff are the nicest people you'll ever meet. The lady on the reception was very polite and helpful, answered quickly to our extra demads. The breakfast was quite good actually, moderate variety yet well cooked, didn't expect that for a hotel in Bansko to be honest. The spa center was also very good for BG standards, sauna was decent, steam room was working properly... Free (private) parking.
A very nice hotel with all the facilities you need for a ski vacation.
It is roughly 5-8 minute walk to the gondola, although uphill.
The breakfast is good. It is basic but has all the ingredients you need to start your day.
Dinner is not included as it is in the adjacent restaurant “Veranda”, which you go to through the hotel. So you eat whatever you order, and there is a discount for hotel residents.
The house cat is cool and friendly.
The apartment, the SPA and the hotel itself were very very very clean. The hygiene was at its best. The suite was very comfortable and cozy. One of the best things was that there was a laundry machine available in the suite and we had no problems with wet or smelly ski clothes. The rooms were enough heated and the laundry dried in one night. The views of Pirin and the golf course were spectacular.
This beautiful, well maintained, family run hotel delivered on so many levels. Fantastic room with a comfortable bed. Food was plentiful and traditional Bulgarian served up buffet style for breakfast and dinner. The spa facilities were an added bonus. We enjoyed a few trips to the sauna after a hard day's skiing. Exceptional place, would highly recommend - literally no complaints.
The location is great, and you are near to the gondola and all the bars, plus there is a minibus from the hotel to the gondola every 20 minutes.
The room was okay it had all the basic stuff.
There is a room where you can store your skiing equipment or rent the staff in there is extremely nice and helpful.
There is a large parking lot which is free for the hotel guests.
Our stay at Mura Hotel in Bansko was amazing! The Jacuzzi and Ski in and out room added an extra layer of luxury to our experience. The value for money exceeded our expectations, making it a perfect choice for a ski group from Kosova 🇽🇰. The staff's hospitality and the overall ambiance made our stay truly memorable. Highly recommend for an unforgettable ski time⛷️🚠.
Exceptionally clean, super friendly and helpful staff. We have been several years in a raw in this hotel for the winter holidays and it’s getting even better. We love the kids club and use it all the time.
Shuttle to the gondola and even to the ski slops in the morning. Great pool and spa procedures.
Rooms are spacious snd comfortable, amazing cleaning service.
Wonderful view from the terrace, walking distance from the centre of the town and at the same time - in a quiet part, away from the hustle and bustle of the touristic attractions. Very convenient free shuttle bus to the ski lift. Amazing food (diverse choice, well-prepared and organised), great SPA facilities and massages. Very spacious hotel.
Very tasty and diverse buffet breakfast.
The spa was satisfying overall , although I personally would have liked a little higher water temperature.
Buses from and to the ski resort, minimizing the impact of the remote location of the hotel.
Room was pretty and comfortable, supplied with coffee and tea everyday.
The location of the hotel was very good. In the middle of the forest, far away from the noise which I liked very much. It is also very close to the Chalin Valog ski slope, which is great. One doesn't need to wait in queues for the cabin lift in Bansko.
The staff in the hotel was very nice and always helpful.
spa in the hotel is very good and good enough to relax after a day of skiing. the food was ok, sometimes really good and other times just ok (dinner). hotel has rental ski and sell ski pass so its very easy and simple not to search for rental, the hotel does everything
Staff was very attentive, helped us arrange transfers to and from airport, and to top of the ski place. Ski room was good. Location was alright, not best. Rooms were clean and tidy. Breakfast is available for 12 bgn at a nearby hotel. Heating was good.
Simply the best place I have ever stayed in Bulgaria. The views, the comfort of the room, the luxury of the spa, private mineral water jacuzzi. The staff are beyond helpful and hard working. I would love to stay at Tia Maria year round :)
Very Close to the ski road/gondola (absolutely brilliant so you won't have to go with car or anything, you just go across the main road near the hotel and put your skis/board and on to the gondola ), Spa, Room, Pool, Parking.
Breakfast, rooms, valet parking, staff, just about everything, apart from the internet speed. The best hotel we have stayed in, in Bulgaria and real international 5 star hotel.
