We liked this hotel so much, the food was various and tasty, especially the fuits. Spa and wellness was excellent, clean, big, almost no one there it was like a private spa. Nice view from the room, perfect skishoes room, beautifuly traditionally decorated interior. The rooms were small but reasonable enough, and had partial views of the mountains.

First of all, I am very thankful that I chose Hotel Lerch for your ski holiday. The position of the hotel is no doubt great. It takes just a few minutes to get to Skibus Station. The journey to Alpendorf takes up to ten minutes.
The meal was incredible. I have no complaints about service.

We are from Colorado so it was similar to Breckenridge or other small mountain towns. There are plenty of hills in town so it was a great "walking exercise experience." There are plenty of grocery stores and cheaper than the US. The situation of the town is beautiful!

Great location for those who want to travel in the province of Salzburg. We went for a walk on Ghost Mountain (the cable car a few hundred meters from the hotel). We took a trip to the Lichtenstein Gorge - this place is a MUST! Its five-minute drive - during busy times in the summer, it's convenient because you can start the day there when it's not too busy and hot yet. The trip to other attractions and sites is also short and the hotel itself is very close to the highway for those who want to reach sites such as the salt mines in Hallein, Hohenwerfen Castle, Salzburg and more. The town of St. Johann im Pongau has many shops and the area has some good restaurants with local food.

The city has all what a tourist needs.
The city has all what a tourist needs. One may say typical Apline city, but has it's nice unique spots - for me: the old bridge neighbourhood (I'd say the old town). As it is located on a slope for me it's more pictureous than others located just in a valley.

Sank Johann was a very pretty town with a good range of shops, restaurants and cafes. We were there for the Skiing so did not spend a lot of time in the town, or at some of the attractions. However I have been coming to Sank Johann in the winter since 2009 and have never been disappointed.
I have never visited in the summer but I can only assume that it will be also be an excellent base from which to explore the area.
Bus service is excellent and Salzburg is only 1hr 15 away. €11 by train and does not require you to change trains.

The mountains around St Johann im Pongau are wonderful, the town its self has changed a lot. It used to be the main place to stay for winter sports in the area, but this has slowly been superseded by Alpendorf where there are a number of modern hotels and apartments (often moderately expensive).
This has caused a lot of the change which includes many of the great bars and restaurants closing and being replaced by some modern residential buildings (most recently the Silbergasse which we all loved).
Of course, if you stay on the edge of town, or a little up the hill (as we did this time), then there are beautiful places to stay. The remaining Hotels like Alpenland, The Brückenwirt and the Lerch and others can also be highly reccomended. Recently, the local Hahnbaum chair lift (where we started skiing in the early 80s) was removed and not replaced. That used to be a great place to ski with the locals on a Sunday after a later night out at ski lovers bar (also long gone). A beginner's area with a T-Lift and Banana lift still exist on the Hahnbaum, but in general you will ski out of Alpendorf (5 minutes drive up the hill), or you just have a short drive to many of the other "Salzburger Skiwelt" areas such as Großarl and Hoch König to mention just 2 out of many.
The town has expanded somewhat over the years, on the plus side this gives plenty of scope for food shopping if you are staying in an apartment. It is a town that many (like us) still love as we have been visiting for so many years, and it is always great to see familiar faces when on a winter holiday. The local people have always been extremely welcoming and very friendly.
Some prefer Wagrain, which has retained its quaint mountain village / town atmosphere and not as crowded as Flachau. Close by is Kleinarl which is a perfect Family resort.
For us, St Johann was and still is the center of the Salzburger Ski Welt, and we will hopefully be regulars for many years to come.

We had large apartment with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 balconies. The apartment has an amazing view of the valley and the area. The apartment is very well equipped and the kitchen is equipped with everything you need - just like at home. The location of the hotel is great - the cable car to the Ghost Mountain (Geisterberg Alpendorf) is a few hundred meters from the place and the Lichtenstein Gorge is a 5-minute drive away. Great location for those who want to travel in the area, as most attractions are within an hour's drive.
The hotel offers an unbeatably beautiful view from both the terrace and the balcony. It has been such enjoyment to sit on the terrace while eating breakfast/dinner. Dinner was homemade authentic Austrian food, very tasty, and at a reasonable price. The lady who received us was super friendly and helpful. Due to my health conditions, I cannot eat many things so they always tried their best to attend to my need, which was highly appreciated. The room was spacious, with a fully renovated bathroom.
Breakfast was nice but not served until 8am - ski lifts open at 8am or 8.30 so such a late breakfast was no good and we had to buy our own and eat it in the room.
Although described as a hotel it did not serve dinner and there was no lounge to relax in and reception was generally unmanned. What you effectively get is a room in a building rather than a hotel experience.
The staff were generally pleasant but the manager was grumpy.
Perfectly situated next to the ski lift in Alpendorf. The apartments are spacious and comfortable. There is a floor heating you can adjust yourself. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. We loved the infinity pool and the modern spa. There are three different saunas and a steambath. Unfortunately the pool is at a different level and not attached to the spa. Tea is available at the spa.
Absolutely wonderful, the views are stunning.
Great home cooked food, and wonderful
Rooms.
A lovely host who took care of all her guests.
The drive from the main road is quite a challenge in winter, but that was because we are not used to driving in snow and ice, but once you have done it once, it’s fine.
The views are just stunning, which makes the drive worth it.
The only hotel l would return to in this area.
Perfect place for skiing, as it sits directly on slope. You can put ski on at hotels door and finish the day at the same place.
As usual in Austria, you will love the cuisine, restaurant is great. Room was good enough, no complaints about equipment, but i didn't expect anything above standard. Mattress was quite tough, i like that. The walls are maybe a little bit thin, you can hear a lot sometimes.
Everything!! I had a free weekend to explore the Alpendorf area with my kids and was only seeking a place with a pool. We stumbled upon Edelweiss and I'm so glad we did!! Our apartment was impeccably clean, very comfortable, and well-equipped. It was the perfect space with all of the extra touches!! We'll definitely return!!
Very nice apartment, big, comfty, modern stylish looking. Everything was clean, and it had everything what we needed. The host is very kind. Great view from the balcony to the valley! The small skitown Alpendorf is like a little gem on the mountain, beautiful little hotels and apartments everywhere, like in in the movies.
The hotel wonderful
The location , rooms , staff they were smiling and helpful
My room was superb they kindly changed my room with same price
The breakfast was wonderful alote of options
If i visit St johann i differently will stay in this hotel
The hotel is locates in a ski resort, so for the summer holidays it’s not the perfect ambiance.
The room was okay; it has everything you need, Wifi was working fine and a there was a balcony.
Breakfast was good, with enough to choose from.
Beautifully located and newly renovated apartment. It's also very well equipped, so everything's perfect for your skiing/snowboarding adventure in Austria. The nearest ski resort, shops and restaurants is 10 minutes away.
This is a family run hotel in the best tradition. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable rooms, excellent restaurant and delightful staff- must mention Martina on reception who was so helpful and kind to us during our stay.
Unique combination between old and new, the property was very clean and the staff were very nice and generous. The hotel’s view was amazing and the pool, gym and bistro were all very good! Also rich spa area
The location is peaceful and serene. Very relaxing. Raimond and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the pool and the spa area after a day of skiing.
