The photos did not do the amazing location justise. Our cottage was spacious, and comforts like under floor heating in the bathroom gave it that extra feeling of being taken care of. The hostess took great care of us and gave wonderful suggestions of restaurants to visit.

The amount of effort that went in to make this a reality is very noticeable. A truly unique experience. So peaceful and tranquil with amazing views and the pool and KolKol just finished it off

The quiet location, within walking distance to the town. Lots of space with all amenities. Wonderful feel to the grounds. Would definately return.
A small charming village in a lovely setting. Not much else to do but walk and eat, but there are 7 restaurants of which the Fat Lady’s Arms was a fun choice. It’s a quiet getaway spot but at times does feel like you’ve stumbled into a retirement home!

Small and wonderful village!
Small and wonderful village! I was lucky to stop there for a night and amaze by the village. There’s few bar options, wonderful restaurants (I went to the Fat Lady’s arm after my guest house owner recommended and I was not disappointed! The food was excellent and they had different choices to pleased I believe everyone!)
The morning after I was lucky to catch the Saturday morning market. Fantastic!

McGregor is a very small
Community. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The only downside is having to travel to Robertson should you require anything from the bigger shops but if you plan well there shouldn't be a need to travel.

We went specifically to visit the Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary just outside McGregor. It was amazing. The property is pristine. There is a lovely restaurant, book shop and gift shop. A friendly, knowledgeable guide introduced us to the donkeys. They were beautiful, peaceful and very well cared for. Definitely worth a visit, also an opportunity to adopt one of these incredible animals and make a very worthwhile contribution to donkey welfare in general. We also enjoyed exploring the quaint little village of McGregor.

McGregor is a tiny village with beautiful old houses located...
McGregor is a tiny village with beautiful old houses located in a remote farming and wine region. For the ones looking for peace and quiet, and wanting to connect with nature, it is a perfect gateway.
The hospitality was amazing. Thank you Stacey for making us feel so welcome! Most of all, the complimentary breakfast was our favourite part. It was so beautifully presented and included gluten-free alternatives. Stacey went above and beyond! Another bonus was the bedding- it was 2 degrees celsius at night, and the bedding was so warm that we didn't even have to use the heater or warm water bottle. For an overnight stay, or for passing through McGregor for the night, this is an awesome option!
The bean tree is situated in the town, a 2min walking distance from everywhere you want to be. It has a lovely garden and is pet friendly as a bonus. The town offers all from cycling to hiking routes and then let's you enjoy lovely restaurants for breakfast and dining. - don't forget the whiskey bar either. Mc Gregor Wines and Lords also give you the option to visit a wine farm. All this and then you get to go to the bean tree to end your day in comfort & style.
Very quiet, peaceful location within easy walking distance of the main street in the village of McGregor. Safe off-street parking right outside our rooms. Comfortable, clean and very attractive bedrooms. Good bathroom facilities. So much attention has been paid to detail throughout the accommodation. The delicious breakfasts were beautifully presented and delivered to our rooms in baskets. Stacey is a very friendly, kind and helpful host.
We were only going to stay for 2 nights, and we decided to extend our stay with two more. The unit was excellent, just lovely hosts going out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible with loads of recommendations of where to eat and where to go. The unit has absolutely everything you need with extra coffee and rusks brought to us on the 3rd day. This will be my go-to place in McGregor from now on. Didn't want to leave!
Really a gem, well appointed accommodation, just like a traditional farm house, that offers all one needs for a relaxing stay just outside McGregor. The 2 bedroom unit offers exceptional privacy for 2 couples. Courtyard with braai, alternatively go up the hill to a boma braai area that overlooks McGregor. Good mountain biking and walking trails. Surprise is the 25 meter indoor swimming pool with official time clock, so race is on....
To visit the quant village of McGregor, The Grand Marigold is a very good choice. We had the double room with private bathroom. As we were the only guests, we were lucky and could use the shared facilities (kitchen, lounge, terrace and swimming pool) on our own.
The terrace and pool are ideal to enjoy the peacefulness of McGregor, the room had all we needed and the hosts are very helpful and welcoming.
Certainly recommended.
Breakfast was great: fruit and yogurt followed by an English breakfast. The last day of my stay I had an omelette which was especially tasty. Breakfast is served with fresh juice and coffee. The property is located in a quiet part of town. I had a very peaceful and relaxing stay. Mcgregor is a great little town with many good restaurants, friendly people and lots to do.
Our stay at Orchard Cottage felt very private. We loved the two bathrooms. Free wifi that was working.
The host did not hold back on coffee, sugar and tea supplies. The house had everything we needed and more for our self catering stay. We want to go back soon.
Will highly recommend Orchard Cottage.
Stunning design and finishings of the villa, gorgeous views, well equipped and maintained... can't wait to go back! McGregor offers loads of amazing dining spots for breakfast, lunch and dinners and fantastic food. Happy our dog could join us, very dog friendly area.
It's hard to top this place if you're visiting McGregor and surrounds for a weekend. Very comfy and spacious, and all the appliances you might need if planning a longer stay. Annatjie and Hennie were wonderful hosts.
Beautifully furnished brand new self-contained cottage in the heart of McGregor. Wonderfully friendly and considerate hosts. Could not be improved in any way. A memorable weekend break.
The cottage we stayed in was beautifully decorated, neat and clean. A welcoming stay in the heart of McGregor. The breakfast is absolutely delicious! Great location too.
