Dullstroom is really lovely for a weekend away or a stopover from the Kruger area.
There are lovely shops and fantastic restaurants. The people are super friendly and its easy to walk around and discovery little things.
Mrs Simpsons restaurants is fantastic and the hosts are amazing. We also had wonderful meals at the MayFly, Baker Brothers, The Waffle Shop and, of course, Harries Pancakes.
It can get cold there but in general, all the places are kitted out for this and are warm and cosy.
In all honestly, the meals and curios are not cheap and some stores feel a bit like tourist traps but then again, no one is forcing you to purchase anything so it's up to your budget how much you spend. But don't expect a cheap little town.
The drive from Johannesburg is quite pleasant as most of the roads are actually in fantastic condition ... BAR the small drive through Belfast. So sorry for that little town ... the roads are terrible.
Oh ... be careful of cows and goats on the road. A cute sight but can be dangerous, especially on a misty morning.
Always happy for a little trip to Dullstroom!

Quaint and quiet village once you leave the main road with its cheek-by jowl shops, restaurants and bric-a-brac outlets. Beautiful countryside to explore once you leave the town. A few very expensive shops some of which sell quite a lot of imported products ...why? A few more affordable options for fly-fishing in terms of catch-and-keep options would be appreciated. More locally manufactured and produced products would have been appreciated e.g. why do all fruit sellers, sell exactly the same fruit coming from Limpopo Province!

The town closes on a Tuesday and some shops stay also close until their is more people in the town... Weird. Whiskey tasting can only happen when there is a big group of people, I completely missed out on that one, even at The Highlander Hotel I was staying, I was really looking forward to do the Whiskey tasting. Sorry 😞 , make sure you are a big group for that one!!

Fantastic location.
Fantastic location. Make sure you bring Doom spray as flies are continuous. Fellow guests that did not stay in the superior villas were complaining of sloppy housekeeping and really poor building maintenance. The restaurant next to reception has really poor attention to service and many guests complain of inattentive staff and poor quality food.
Beautiful location, tranquil and relaxing. Cottage was cosy, comfortable and beautifully appointed. Really enjoyed the fireplace. Kitchen was more than adequate for our needs. Hosts were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Lovely, friendly dog visited us each day.
Nature walks were great and fishing was relaxing. Good facilities nearby at the hotel and in the quaint town.
Lovely place for a breakaway from city life.
I had the most incredible stay at Vetho Farmhouse in Dullstroom. The view was simply breathtaking, and the farm itself felt like stepping into another world. The pool and spa were the perfect places to unwind, and the massage was pure bliss. Nanto, our host, was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, offering us invaluable tips and hiking ideas. Thank you for such a magical experience!
We thoroughly enjoyed the location of the cottage. It is located on the outskirts of Dullstroom, which meant we enjoyed peace & quiet at the cottage, with the option to stroll into town when we felt like browsing the busy shops & restaurants.
We also appreciated having the privacy of three bedrooms & three bathrooms 👌🏻
We enjoyed to stay at the tiny house. We had a pretty good time in dullstroom which is also a very nice city
The rooms are equipped with a lot of things that I haven't expected (e.g. a small liqueur shot, coffee, tea, etc.)
Thanks so much for the lovely stay.
Very nice apartment with enough space and everything exactly as in the photo's. Nice information booklet on what to do in Dullstroom. The beds are very comfortable and the fireplace working very well without everything smelling of smoke the next morning.
This spectacular farm is perfect for a peaceful break away with friends and fur babies. Being a mere 25km from Dullstroom one can enjoy both the tranquility of the farm and the excitement of the quaint village during the same trip.
The property was situated toward the back of Dullstroom within easy walking distance of the dam. The walk to and from town was a nice way to start and end the day. Mattey and Julian were great hosts.
Tranquility and great fishing for trout (brown and rainbow) and largemouth bass. Another highlight was the perfectly kept green lawn around the dams. We were all barefoot for most of the time. bliss
Still the best pub 'n grub in Dullstroom. Stays open later than the main toursits venues that all close down at 5pm. Food is great and good value for money.
The prelim fire in the evenings. Good coffee in the room. Great meals. Great walk around the dams and up the hill behind hotel. Great choice for breakfast.
The cottage was beautifully decorated and attention to detail was taken. Loved the Africology products provided. It was a piece of heaven in Dullstroom.
