The breakfast was really good and even included fresh bread.
The room was very quite and clean.
There is an Eco side to it as sink water is used to water the grass.

We stayed at Dungbeetle River Lodge for 2 nights while visiting Addo. We arrived in the late afternoon and then took a full day game drive from the lodge. It was a bit much for us and would do a morning game drive next time. The experience was awesome, it was just too long for our pensioner bodies! Staying 2 nights was perfect because the evening gave us a nice recovery period before we hit the road for our return to Cape Town. Dungbeetle River Lodge was a perfect location from which to travel into Addo. It's literally 3 minutes from the south gate of the park.

Not a quaint little tourist town, and somewhat disappointed with our stay (for choice of shops, restaurants and ease of access to the river, lack of info for St Croix marine reserve).
The Sand dunes are spectacular, but also not easy to access as on private property. The day visit permit is affordable (via Pearson resort) yet this information is not easily available to visitors.
Close proximity to Addo South Gate which is great.
Some marketing PR would go a long way!

It is a dusty , dirty place a favorite stop-over for long distance lorry drivers
and all that they bring with them. The only :restaurants" which are really only fast food eatery's and not very good a that. the only thing Colchester has got going for it is that is very convenient for the Addo Elephant park,
other than that it is not worth a visit.

As a teenager I basically grew up in Colchester, not the asea as such, but we did a lot of camping over the years with friends and family. The views are just spectacular and if you love fishing it gets even better as it is a fisherman`s paradise.

Its a great place to get away from our busy everyday life.
Its a great place to get away from our busy everyday life. Colchester is the perfect place to just unwind and in its beauty. We didnt do much sightseeing, but most definitely will next we go there again.
The house is in a very secure and quiet area. You feel really safe. We stayed at the 3 bedroom apartment. It was very clean and spacious. The apartment looks much better than in the pictures. The kitchen is very comfortable and has all appliances.
We were able to watch movies on Netflix.
The staff and owner were very kind and helpful (they even did our laundry although it is not supposed to be included).
The house is located 5 minutes drive from the Addo south gate. Best location!!
We highly recommend this house. Thank you for hosting us!
We loved everything about this hotel. The location was ideal, the staff extremely welcoming and the facilities exceeded our expectations. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable and we especially loved the outside rock shower. We took advantage of the dinner option on both nights and the food was home cooked, plentiful and absolutely delicious. We could not fault anything and would highly recommend this hotel. Thank you Wesley and all your team for giving us such a wonderful and memorable experience.
The property is beautifully outfitted and a fantastic location to Addo Elephant Park. Suzette was very kind and helpful and has created a fantastic retreat on the property. It is very safe with gates, screens and locks. The air conditioning was a nice bonus, although the house didn't seem to get overly warm throughout the day. The swimming pool was lovely and the gardens gave plenty to look at. We had a less mobile person in our group and she was able to easily get around the property and house.
Remarkable value for money. The apartment was large and very well equipped for a self catering stay. Just a very short walk to the Sundays river where there are lovely views of the river and super bird watching (also from the old road bridge nearby). The community of houses here are directly opposite the South gate entrance to Addo Elephant park, and it is an easy drive down to the Sundays river mouth at the sea. The dune field here is truly breathtaking.
Very spacious room with clean bathroom. Tasty breakfast served. The host was very friendly and helpful and went above and beyond when we forgot something at the accommodation. The house is located on the banks of a river and a pool next doors is available for guests. A restaurant and shop is located just across the street. The south gate of Addo national park are only a short drive away!
We had a wonderful stay at park view. The tents were so comfortable and really quiet - we slept very well! Breakfasts were lovely and dinner at the hotel was good- make sure you pre-order dinner for the night you arrive.
Would recommend booking Schotia Safari through reception when you arrive - it’s a 10 min drive away and a brilliant safari experience!
Great place to stay in Colchester while visiting Addo Elephant park, 5 minutes away. Our host Alf was super hospitable and advised on activities in the area and beyond. The units were clean, spacious and had everything needed in a self catering unit. Use of the hot tub was welcomed after a cool rainy day, What a great place to stay.
It was the perfect location to visit the Addo Elephant Park. Only a five minute drive. Wayne was a very attentitive host. We got lots of information about Addo and the surrounding area. The house is in a beautiful location at the Sunday River. If you get a chance go on a boat trip to the sanddunes. Worth while 😊
Definitely the best place to stay when you want to visit Addo Elephant Park! Our house Wayne was simply amazing, he took a lot of time giving us tips for the park. Beautifully decorated room with lots of amenities. Make sure to arrive early to enjoy the wonderful sunset over the river!
Wayne, the house host is an amazing person. His service is above anyones expectations.
Willing to help, give information, etc
The place has an excellent location and is big and comfy

Byron and his Staff are super friendly, professional and helpful. Our stay was relaxing and peaceful. Breakfast was awesome This will be our "go to" spot in Colchester :-)
The location of the house is great, very close to Addo elephant park and the Sundays river. The kitchen was well equipped and the view to the river really nice
River, warm pool, clean, option to rent a boat, spacious house, well equipped kitchen, very nice entertaining areas inside as well as outside the house.
