The location in general was wonderful.

The location in general was wonderful. It's a beautiful part of North Carolina. Southern Prime Steakhouse was amazing! The area is very clean. The traffic can be a bit much in the afternoons, but it's nothing unusual. It's definitely a spot to have a nice weekend.

My friend and I were in Southern Pines as spectator's for the U. S. Women's Open (Tuesday and Wednesday). Pine Needles is an excellent golf course with great views for fans. Pinehurst Country Club is a step back into golf history. Play the Cradle Par 3 Course at Pinehurst Country Club. I did. Best $50 9 hole course ever! To top it off, I got cheers for my birdie on the 9th hole from the "gallery" of couples by the green! The Thistle Dhu putting course at Pinehurst Country Club, modeled after the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland, is a lot of fun. Dugan's Pub and The Drum and Quill in the Village of Pinehurst both serve outstanding fish and chips, combined with great beer, service, and atmosphere. The Carolina Hotel is worth seeing, especially for their Wall of Golf history inside. Finally, the Vilage of Pinehurst was designed to represent a New England flavor. Frederick Law Olmstead's firm did the layout for the village green. He is the same architect with credit for the landscape of the Biltmore Estate (Asheville, NC) and Central Park (New York City). Even though Pinehurst and Southern Pines are steeped in golf, non-golfers will enjoy an abundance of great restaurants, beautiful scenery, friendly people, and calmness!

I made trip to Southern Pines to be at 2022 US Women's Open at Pine Needles as a hole Marshal. I love being out on the course with the fans and players. Terrific experience! Trip was marred by acommodations at Days Inn and Conference Center at 805 SW Service Rd. Room was dirty, had shabby furnishings, and a toilet that would flush only every 2-3 times. And had bugs. This was the only room I could find by the time the volunteer schedule was sent out. I would rather have stayed 50 miles away than stay again in a room like this.

The problem we had was both beds had dirty bedding on them.

The problem we had was both beds had dirty bedding on them. Really nasty stains on both bed spread. I took pictures of both and showed them to the manager. The only thing they said , was we have have clean ones right here. I said that's great they should have been on the bed. And you could tell that the stains were old. And we want offered anything. I want be staying there ever again.
