Located 1.7 km from Kolekole Beach Park, Honomu Inn offers air-conditioned accommodation with a terrace and free WiFi.

It was nice going downstairs to make coffee, with complimentary bagels and yogurt. The Inn was very nice, clean and birds chirping outside in the mornings! We enjoyed meeting Mr. Ed, owner of Ed's Bakery a few stores down.

The room was nice and comfortable. The shared kitchen looked well equipped although we didn’t use it. Bathroom in the main house felt clean and think we only had to share with one other room during the stay. The location is gorgeous and loved that we could swim in the nearby waterfall. Breakfast vouchers are a great, even if choice is limited.

Hilo Vacation Rental, hotel in Honomu

A good location for a hassle-free holiday in Hilo, Hilo Vacation Rental is a guest house surrounded by views of the city.

Because of poor neighborhood, my family was not comfortable staying in the hotel, we booked another hotel, we did not go to the hotel. We were expecting refund but not yet happened. Priceline customer care did not help us to resolve the issue.

Location was perfect for us -- to Laupahoehoe and Hilo-- our primary destination. Too far to volcano or Kona. Depends what the traveler is going to the Big Island for and the duration. Only thing that would nix my return visit is the bath tub. Otherwise it was very comfortable.

The property is located in a farm area with access via a narrow road. It is not well labeled and would be difficult to find in the dark. It is 3 miles from the Akaka Falls. Wifi service was adequate but TV service limited to streaming options. I found watching a movie difficult because the bandwidth was weak. The owner had several animals on the property; goats, cats, checkers, rabbits. When we visited several cats were confined in a small cage with limited water and I a dirty litter box.

This is a very small and old-fashioned town located close to Hilo. I stayed at the Honomu Inn, which was delightful and has its own review from me. It's vital to note that none of the restaurants in Honomu proper are open very late at all and travelers should probably check in after a proper meal. You should also fuel your vehicle first. During the day the shops keep island hours so use the morning time to see 'Akaka falls and or do the Zipline tour, then check out the food. There is a bakery that is open early however (Mr Ed's) with amazing guava fruit bear claws. Funny enough, there is a sarong store and an aloha shirt store both along the maintreet, so the clothes shopping opportunities are much more interesting than one would expect. Definitely stay here if you want something quiet and affordable that is still close to Hilo and 'Akaka falls.
