The location was great. The wine and cheese with lemonade and the continental breakfast were very appreciated. The garden setting and chaise lounges were wonderful because we had to check out by 11, but our ferry left at 4. The water jugs were a nice thought. The coupon with Avalon Grill was very nice.

A shuttle picked us up at the ferry and drove us up the steep hill to the hotel. The same shuttle was available throughout our stay to take us to and from town. The room had a fabulous view looking down on Catalina Harbor and a lovely terrace. The beds were comfortable and had high quality linens. The bathroom was very large and exceptionally nice with an enclosed shower stall separate from the bathtub.

Beautiful place to visit with lots of shops, restaurants, excursions and beaches. Be sure to book excursions in advance of your stay because the cruise ships stop here so most of the excursions get sold out in advance.

I loved the calm relaxing vibe.
I loved the calm relaxing vibe. It felt like a quaint sea side village from the past. Everything was very clean and the walking on the beach frontage or the walk to the casino were very pleasant for us seniors. I also saw young families with small children which appeared to be ideal for that phase of family life because the beach is so close. I hadn't been to Avalon for over 20 years and was extremely happy with the way it has evolved and the pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed it very much, but if I come back with my young adult grand daughters, they would probably want to do more of the activities which are available.

Our observation of Avilon is that is evolving.
Our observation of Avilon is that is evolving. There are more small cars. The businesses seem to be sustainable and pretty much thriving, and all is a positive experience.
Catalina is a mere 27-30 miles from where we live in So CA, but it could be HI, South of France or Southern Italy.
I think, just go there with the intent of slowing down and enjoying slower time and removing yourself from the balance of hectic life elsewhere. It is a good place to relax.

We visited at start of January (still school holidays) and found reduced restaurant and shop options. Restaurants tended to close early.
Easy 1hour comfortable ferry crossing to island with Catalina Express from Long Beach. Saw dolphins en route.
Just few minutes walk to main town, shops, restaurants and many hotels from ferry terminal.
Plenty of walks, but hilly. Fabulous views & plants/wildlife. Mostly golf carts or bikes and limited cars/local mini bus to get around.
Easy access to public restrooms around Avalon.
Would visit spring onwards for future visit.

Avalon can be magical to visit for a couple of days. Lots of activities, food options, and shopping. It's charming and beautiful. The M restaurant is one of my favorites, with good breakfast and lunch options. At dinner, it's a good Italian restaurant.

Beautiful place, lots of history. Clean, friendly, safe.
Beautiful place, lots of history. Clean, friendly, safe. Lots to do. Casino tour was great. The island is a bit expensive but not crazy and well woth it. It's an island after all. Hotel Atwater is very nice.
This hotel has an elevator, which was much appreciated as my husband has mobility issues. Few hotels on Catalina Island offer elevator access, I discovered. They also have a pool. 99% of the folks we encountered at this hotel were very nice, especially the shuttle drivers which took us into town and back multiple times. This hotel is somewhat off the beaten path, and it was nice we didn't have to hear folks partying all night long.
There is only pet friendly hotel in a rush booking in that price! No elevator but staff are friendly! Bed are okay for two people, if is a high weight mind need a larger size bed. Small kitchen is nice things need are quite full prepared ! Electric fire cook pad is only available not work, we could only use microwave to boiling water, frozen is nice and cool! Location is nice, couple walks to the sea or Vons! Overall 5five star!
When I initially booked the room for the weekend of the Catalina Marathon, I was just trying to find a convenient room that could act as a decent meeting spot for family that was running in the event. Much to my surprise, I checked in and was treated to Suite 1 which was far more than I was expecting. The view from the balcony was amazing, and the little kitchenette ended up being perfect for the couple days I was on Avalon.
I recently had a delightful stay at Catalina Island. Allison, the property manager, made our experience exceptional. Her warm greeting at the pier and assistance in getting to the condo set a positive tone. She even sang Happy birthday to my daughter upon our arrival. The complimentary golf cart added a fun touch, and the condo’s proximity to the beach was convenient.
I stayed for two nights for my birthday. Hands down the best features were the golf cart and the hot tub. Everything was great, the beds were super comfortable. TVs are in every room. If you were to rent a golf cart on your own they charge $60 per hour and you have to return it at the end of the hour or day, so being mobile on the island was a fantastic feature.
The staff was great, everyone from the person at check-in to the housekeepers, the drivers who took us to the hotel and dropped off our bags, who handled the breakfast area—everyone was very helpful. I can only recall the names of Carlos, José and Daniel, but the latter's wife and her sister were also stellar and went above and beyond in their service.
It was located right in the centre of Avalon and we were upgraded to a bigger room so that me and my friend could have our own beds. The room was spacious, as was the bathroom and it had all the facilities we needed, such as a hairdryer. The staff were really friendly and accommodating and let us check-in earlier too.
Bellanca Hotel has the BEST Most Comfortable Pillows I've ever had at any hotel - ever!! I wanted to take one home, but of course, I did not!! I asked the clerk and she told me where to buy those type of pillows. Room was good and the bed was good too. Location is Perfect!! Great Island to visit.
Room was comfortable and clean. Space was maximized for efficiency and colors were very pleasing. Location is excellent in relationship to restaurants, bars, shopping, excursions, activities and the ferry- Catalina Island Express.
Had a great stay. Right in town… water front
Had an interior room so quiet. Coffee and rolls in the morning was a great treat. This hotel is older…small rooms/dated bath. But very vintage Catalina! Would absolutely stay again!
Hotel location was great and this was the most affordable place on the island. We stayed here in 2018 and really enjoyed it as it was MUCH nicer then. After this visit I would not recommend.
Excellent location in the middle of Avalon, overlooking the cutest little market place area. Lovely decor, comfortable and the jacuzzi on the roof was an added bonus!
close to everything! staff all very polite and helpful. very clean and bed very comfortable. it’s nice to stay in a hotel that has some character rather than a chain.
