Great location with good restaurants and access to various activities. We liked the boat tour of the shipwrecks and the maritime museum. The dark-sky areas at nearby parks provided an opportunity to star gaze which we enjoyed. And great walking path along the lake.

Alpena is a welcoming hometown with a delightful downtown filled with pleasure for all ages. Nature in both beach and woods is kept impeccably clean and has areas just outside of town for longer hikes, kayaking, bike riding and interesting spots such as sinkholes.

Very disappointing. Many stores empty.
Very disappointing. Many stores empty. Restaurants few and far between other than fast food places. Hard to get a good meal on a Saturday night. Pizza and burgers only option. Besser and NOAA museum definitely worth a visit.

Great small little town that seems to be developing.
Great small little town that seems to be developing. Good restaurants are JJ's (awesome pizza), Mango's (seafood chimichanga) and Fresh Palate (flourless chocolate cake). Some cool cart galleries, especially Art in the Loft. Friendly folks.

Alpena is a great east coast side of "Up north", a small busy city next to dense forests is a really cozy place to stay. Like a mini Upper Peninsula in my opinion, but then again Michigan is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. This just happens to be one with great Boating lakes and rivers.. and Hiking trails!
Breakfast is the normal hotel breakfast,it was good, had a decent selection to eat and drink, room was the standered room, cozy and quite and clean, never used the pool or anything of the such, there was a clerk at the front desk named Lisa martell, she was amazing to say the least, very helpful and friendly, she deserves a raise
The room was spacious with comfortable bed, comfortable bedding (sheets, etc.), as well as very soft and absorbent towels. Mini refrigerator was plugged in and very cold. Many hotels often have unplugged, warm frig. Room was clean. Noise was very minimal. Very good internet service. Breakfast was very good.
Very clean and nice staff. Light breakfast as advertised was very nice and better than expected! Price was much better than local Holiday Inn Express by $70 a night and well worth the price. I travel a lot and I am a Hilton Diamond member and was pleasantly surprised by this Days Inn.
Loved this place - the best place we stayed during a week-long bike trip. The motel is clean and interesting in a very cool way. The owners and their family members are the best! Friendly and very accommodating. When in the Alpena area, this is where my wife and I will stay.
The keurig coffee maker was perfect, the shower and sink both had Dove soaps and lotion in them. The thermostat was easy to adjust, but I think the softness of the bed was the best.
The owners were so warm and inviting when we checked in. Gave us lots of info on places to eat and attractions to check out while in the area. Cute little place they have!
The facility was designed very well. Liz at the desk was friendly, full of local knowledge and was so helpful and fun. She was the highlight of our stay——-areal gem!!
Great location to explore Alpena. Many restaurants and food trucks available within one block. Well equipped kitchen with some basic foods and water bottles.
