What a surprise! I came for Göbeklitepe but could have spent days roaming the maze of historic Old Town and the market areas. Unfortunately, all the museums are still closed after last year's earthquakes but there's still a plethora of historic buildings and attractions to enjoy. The local foods were incredible and local people very eager to interact with a visitor - even if only through Google Translate.

Sanliurfa is a large city.
Sanliurfa is a large city. I stayed in the historical center. One day is needed to learn to find your way around, among the nice narrow streets, the larger avenues. As I like walking 10 km per day , I did not make use of taxis and buses. Good shoes are required ! Anyway, taxis are everywhere, and buses are frequent (every 5 minutes ). For walking further away to touristical places like Göbeklitepe, Karahantepe, Harran, Halfeti, etc. : organized tours, buses or private accomodation .
Meals during the day, in many restaurants, or in shopping centers, all cheap, with fresh traditional food. Just not easy to get vegetarian meals, but many recipes are meat free (pide with cheese, or spinach, pizza with vegetables, for example, soups, shepherd's salad...).
season is very important : avoid Sanliurfa in full summer if you don-t like yoo hot ! sme tourists leave the city after 1-2 days because they were not aware of the temepratures... so have a close look to monthly temperature charts before choosing your period .

I'm so glad we added Urfa to our itinerary.
I'm so glad we added Urfa to our itinerary. It was very different from the other places we visited on our trip (Istanbul, Izmir, Göreme, Denizli, Kaş). It felt much more traditional and less cosmopolitan, but the people we interacted with were just as friendly, and we felt just as safe as we had in other parts of the country. There is a lot to see and do in the area. The archaeological museum is not to be missed; standing in their full-sized replica of Göbeklitepe felt magical. We appreciated having a rental car, to be able to drive down to Harran on our own. It seems that there is less English spoken in this part of the country than in Istanbul (e.g. in the restaurants and in the market), so it helps to have the Google Translate app with the Turkish dictionary downloaded ahead of time for offline use.

This is an amazing place.
This is an amazing place. Easy to believe you are close to the cradle of civilisation. Within walking distance you have a large Necropolis, 2 fabulous museums ( the ticket for one gives access to the other ) a great Eastern style bazzar, Abrahams birth cave, holy lake, a castle, Gobekli Tepe and much much more.

The archaeological museum was excellent and the mosaic...
The archaeological museum was excellent and the mosaic museum was also good. The historic Islamic architecture in the centre was very interesting. And the Gobekli Tepe archaeological site outside of town was fascinating.
However, I wouldn’t rate the local food as anything really special.
The rooms have excellent styling with comfortable beds and a really nice shower. The mood lighting was great too. The taxi service was bar none. The hotel taxi driver picked me up from the airport, even waiting around when my flight was delayed, and then asked if I was hungry and took me to a lovely steak restaurant. Check in and check out were easy. The room wifi is the best I've had in all of Turkey. Especially for the price, this place is impossible to beat in the city. FYI, have Turkish downloaded on Google Translate before you go.
A very lovely family-driven hotel with the kindest staff that will help you with every problem or need you might have and they are always open for a chat. Nice clean facilities in beautiful old historical buildings, delicious and filling breakfast, and a good central location near the centre to e.g. Balıklıgöl and other tourist spots - as well as good parking conditions just outside the hotel, in case you travel by car.
Thank you for a lovely stay! I will definitely come back if I find myself back in that region again. :)
Everything was perfect! The owners of the hotel, Abu Furkan and Abu Ibrahim were great hosts. It was really a pleasure to meet them. Very respectful, kind and helpful people
. The room was very clean in terms of everything. I would definitely recommend the place for other guests. Also, there are two car parks very close to the hotel. One is about 50 meters and the other one is about 100 meters. I prefer the one that's 100 meters away. It's more secured.
We spent two nights at this hotel in Sanliurfa. We had two rooms and enjoyed them very much. The staff is excellent and very helpful. Our rooms were upstairs and we climbed stairs to get tho them (no lift), which was fine for us, but would be difficult for someone with mobility issues. There is no parking on site, but there is a car park quite close to the hotel. Only about 5 minute walk to the bazaar and ten minute walk to Balikligol.
As other reviews said, it's an absolutely beautiful hotel in a historic building. The courtyard area is lovely, food is good and atmosphere is excellent. It also happens to be one of very few places in Urfa that serves alcohol in the restaurant. The rooms were comfortable, staff were all very friendly and helpful and location was perfect, all the main attractions were a short walk away.
The hotel is beautiful! You feel welcomed immediately! The hotel is in very good conditions and clean! The rooms are comfortable so you can rest peacefully after a long day of activities! The location is key, is near from the center so you can go walking to several touristic places! The staff is nice, they contact you to have a smooth check and the breakfast is delicious! Recommended!
Beautiful little gem of a hotel tucked away in the winding streets of Urfa. Baaz, the hotel manager, was an amazing help in coordinating airport pickup and drop-off for me and arranging a car to Gobekli Tepe. Baaz went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and showed tremendous care and hospitality. Thank you, Baaz!
The hotel had this beautiful interior design. Excellent price. Parking the car was difficult due to space constraints, but at least there was a parking spot available. They had a working mini fridge in each room. The consierge was very friendly and helpful, despite not speaking english.
Authentic building with nice design. Hotel manager Baaz couldn’t do more to make our trip flawless, he helped us organise the transfers, to change money and gave plenty of useful recommendations. Very friendly and professional. Amazing breakfast and beautiful rooms.
Excellent breakfast and quiet rooms in a peaceful, traditionally decorated Turkish konak (boutique hotel with a beautiful courtyard). The owner is very friendly. The location is very close to the old city, the Balikligöl lake, and restaurants.
Beautiful hotel in a historical stone building. The rooms are made in stone. Located just in front of the "fish lake", which is the best place to hang around in the city, with no traffic.
The owner is super nice and helpful
The house has history, 500 years.
The staff is amazing, they gave us recomendations and organize a private tour for us and transportation to the hotel.
The driver we had, Ferman amazing person.
The breakfast pretty good.
