The location of the hotel is great (the road to get there is a different matter and is nothing the hotel can influence). The receptionist was lovely but overall I have to say the staff was not very friendly or helpful. The room size was good and we had a little balcony facing the lake. It was great to get a free kayak for one hour as part of the stay.

The hotel has a very nice atmosphere, and the staff went out of their way to help us with a tour on Good Friday (a day when everything’s closed), which was the highlight of my trip, so thank you!! Very helpful and friendly. Location’s perfect, could not have been better. Bed was very comfortable and was lucky enough to share the dorm with only 1 other person which was lovely. The fan works perfect. Free water (and coffee) all day. Totally recommend!!

What a lovely hostel!!!!
The people are so friendly and the food is great.
I had a private room and loved how it clean it was (finally a room WITHOUT cockroaches) and a hot shower.
Hammocks, a small pool, roof terrace, makes you want to hang out all day and have some chill time.
I do want to mention that if you walk the wrong way there are a lot of drunks trying to get your attention. So just keep the direction of the cathedral 😊
It was nice to meet other travellers and take a trip to the volcano together.
100% recommend Casa Verde.

You see a lot of crap online of wether or not Santa Ana is safeS we had zero problems and never felt unsafe at all. Santa Ana and El Salvador in general have made huge inprovements in safety these last years. The town is nice , you'll strugle to find a building with more than 2 stories. It has preserved it's old world charm. Not supermany things to do or see but a good base to go exploring from

The road especially the side streets are horrible.
The road especially the side streets are horrible. Needs a traffic officer in all the main road that are under construction even at night. I closed my eyes hoping that my husband won’t hit a vehicle as he drove on tight traffic areas. I’m worried that our rental car won’t break down on the unpaved roads- lots of rocks and open pits.
The Santa Ana people are very helpful and kind.

I really liked the Santa Ana Cathedral.
I really liked the Santa Ana Cathedral. As an amateur photographer, I also liked the colorful and dilapidated buildings around the cathedral. They made a great backdrop for street photography. Unfortunately, I spent only a day here so I was not able to see or do many things in the area. It is a great location to jump off the Ruta de las Flores though. I’m definitely happy that I decided to start the route here and not from San Salvador.

Santa Ana is a medium sized city tucked in the mountains.
Santa Ana is a medium sized city tucked in the mountains. The market is fun to explore and cathedral and theatre are gorgeous. Outside of town there are ruins, volcanoes, and a lake within an hour. The town doesn't have much tourism which gives it a more authentic feel, but also means you won't find many good restaurants around the square or at night.
Really nice host sister couple who is really welcoming and helpful. Room is pretty basic, but does the trick. There is a fan on the sealing which you will need in Santa Ana. Location is fine, it’s close to a nice part of town with a few restaurants and coffee joints. Bit far from the real centre, but definitely within walking distance. Breakfast is included and is totally fine! I’m this is the best value for your money when you don’t want to spend too much on accommodation.
Luis is an excellent host. He helped me with many things, such as which buses to take to other places in El Salvador, recommendations for shopping and eating, extra fan, checking out...
The studio is very comfortable, with everything one needs for an extended visit.
It is near the cathedral and central park.
Everything else one might need is within walking distance.
I recommend Casa del Abuelo to anyone who wants to enjoy Santa Ana with Luis as a host.
First class!
We went in as guests but left as friends, solely because of Juan's hospitality. Juan is an excellent host; always smiling and attentive to our needs, offering great suggestions on our activity-planning, and providing rides for a very reasonable price. The breakfasts provided each day were varied and tasty; in fact, the pupusas we had at Juan's place were one of the best we had on our trip. Thanks Juan (and Jocelyn) for a memorable stay!
Such a fab little hostel! It felt so much like a home. It was a great place to meet friends and go on day trips in and around Santa Ana (Volcano, waterfalls, Ruta de las Flores). Comfortable space, adorable dog, comfy beds, well-equipped kitchen. Fernando the owner was super nice and friendly to us and helped us with all our needs. Motorcycle rental was great too. Definitely in my top 5 hostels!
Casa Verde lived up to its reputation. The friendliest staff I've ever encountered. Efficient as well. The room was basic but comfortable and the facility was well thought out and well organized. Kudos to the owner. Excellent breakfast every morning and it varied day to day. The ladies who prepared it were delightful. I highly recommend this Hostal for anyone who visits Santa Ana..
A huge thanks to Velvet hotel - the stay was amazing! First of all, we could check in early, host helped out with everything - all the info, buses, covid test for Gvatemala. Also prepared our breakfast early so we can head out to volcano hike. Not to mention everything was very clean, modern and fresh. For the price you pay it's a fantastic deal. Thank you very much!
What a gem. Carlos the owner is very friendly and helpful, providing all of the contacts necessary for transfers, tours etc.
The hostel has a range of accommodation and our ensuite room was terrific. Large enough to feel spacious, nicely fitted out bathroom and a view over the roof tops in Santa Ana. The rooftop terrace was a great place to enjoy a sundowner.
The people in charge is friendly and very kind. The place is easily located by Uber, Waze and Google Maps. Although the place is located near the center of Santa Ana, the noise inside the hostal is very low and you could easily have a good rest here after a shower with hot water. It is also positive that the bathroom has it's own extractor system.
We loved our stay at Pool House Hostel, Adri and Roberto were wonderful hosts and such lovely people! Adri helped us with all our bus routes around Santa Ana and the Ruta de Las Flores, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The hostel itself is so cosy and Coco and Blackie are the cutest pets!
Casa Vieja really felt like home away from home. Luis and his family are amazing hosts!! Luis also gave us a lot of tips and info about Santa Ana volcano and lake Coatepeque. Any questions you have he’s the right person to ask too!
The room was very clean and comfortable…will definitely recommend it 100% 😌
It’s not everyday that you find a hostel in a former president’s house, but that’s what you got in Santa Ana. Pedro José Escalón used to live here in the beginning of the 20th century. It’s a beautiful house - a bit run down from the outside but certainly majestic inside.
Perfect location and price point to tour Lago Coatepeque, El Tazumal, Cerró Verde, Volcán Ilametepec (Santa Ana Volcano) and Salto de Malacatiupán all within 30-60 minutes away from the property. The host was very attentive. Def recommend!
I’ve really enjoyed my stay at Castello Santa Ana! The staff was very friendly and helpful and was doing everything to make me stay there even better! Dorms were very comfortable and the location was perfect!
The food was outstanding and the price was a steal! Breakfast was included and all of the food was traditional El Salvadorian food! The staff was quick to answer all our needs and very friendly.
nice, clean room with little balcony, decent bar, right on water, the man running the place was the only person during our week in El Salvador we came across who spoke English, good breakfast
good location. short walk to the plaza and various bus stops for trips to volcan Santa ana and ruta Flores etc.
clean, good WiFi, fairly basic but clean and decent enough kitchen for use.
Hotel in the historical district close to Santa Ana Cathedral. The hotel is registered as historical land mark. Big room, nice bathroom good hot water.
