Anchored in Swedish Tradition
Helsingborg is one of Sweden’s oldest cities and is strategically located on the narrowest part of the Öresund strait. The Kärnan tower was part of a Danish fortress which used to control sea traffic, and views from the top stretch to Helsingør on the other side. Today, ferries regularly make the short trip across to Denmark and it is a Helsingborg tradition to have dinner on them, an act known as ’tura’.
Although the port forms much of the attractive waterfront, Helsingborg still has several beaches. One is lined by a wooden boardwalk, and the sandy Tropical Beach is under the shade of palm trees.
Norra Hamnen has been regenerated from a dock to modern yacht marina, overlooked by apartments, restaurants and bars. One of these is in Dunkers Culture House, an arts centre designed by the son of the Sydney Opera House architect.
The town hall clocktower is one of the most prominent landmarks and Kullagatan was the country’s first pedestrian shopping street. Väla is one of Scandinavia’s largest shopping centres and north-west is Sofiero Palace whose beautiful gardens are packed with blooming rhododendrons. In 18th-century Ramlösa Park mineral water springs emerge from red rock.
Booking.com’s Helsingborg accommodation includes luxury hotels, cheap hostels by the train station and B&Bs near Ängelholm-Helsingborg Airport.

A lovely city.
A lovely city. Slottshagen is a small castle a few hundred meters from the ferry & train station, and during daytime hours, you can pay to go to the top for a nice view of the area. A couple of kilometers from there is Fredriksdal Park, which is a fantastic park and open-air museum. It features a historical mini-folk village that simulates life a century ago, and is very educational, plus farm animals, a botanical garden, and overall great experience for families. This park can easily take a whole day. I wish we could have spent more time in Helsingborg.

Nice city core with old houses.
Nice city core with old houses. Lots of nice pubs, restaurants and cafés. Brewskival beer festival with a very relaxed atmosphere. Taking the ferry to Helsingör/Elsinore ("tura"). Taking the ferry for a day trip to the small island of Ven is also highly recommended.

Good transport links.
Good transport links. Green bus travel- make sure you have a payment card per person. Travelled with husband and had a personal card that we loaded with the currency, to use during stay. Husband used the card to get a ticket and passed the card to me to swipe. Driver said 1 card- 1 person. Good job I had a bank card I could use!! Don't get caught out. No problem on the yellow buses though.

Best on winter when the sea is rough and dangerous. You can watch the container and cruising ships passing by.

Our visit to Helsingborg was totally spoilt due to the problem my son had with his rooms. His first room was not cleaned properly, he found a used tissue inside the toilet roll when he used it, also the mattress was filthy and it stunk. They moved him to another room right by to the elevator, it was noisy so he did not have a good night's sleep, we have complained with the desk, they told us to send a manager an email, we have still not received a reply
Extremely friendly and helpful staffs. We have been to some hotels where you can tell the staffs just being professional, but the staffs here in Radisson Blu Metropol Helsingborg are really extremely friendly from the bottom of their hearts and would go extra mile to help you from their own initiatives. Very clean, comfortable mattresses. One of the few hotels where the family room provided 4 real beds not dusty sofa beds. The only hotel provided us comfortable sippers. Most importantly it’s very value for money.
- Very courteous staff: When we checked in, we got a small room without closet. As we stayed for one week, we asked for a bigger room with space for our big suitcases - and we very lucky enough we got a nice large room on an upper floor. This is definitely customer care! :-)
- Excellent choice at the breakfast buffet
- absolutely amazing: the rooftop terrace and bar with a great view
- located directly at the harbour, so just a few steps away from the ferry to Helsingör, the train station and the beach
The room is big enough.
Private parking.
In our building there was a kitchen downstairs, with coffee machine, dishes, refrigerator, sink and even dishwasher.
The breakfast is very satisfying, very nice view from the dining room.
When you arrive after the reception hours, there an envelope waiting for you with the room key and explanation - very convenient.
Liked the first staying, so stayed twice during our Sweden trip.
The hotel is a 15 minute driving from Helsingborg.
My room was clean and comfortable, with an amazing view across the Øresund strait and over the sea. The hotel is very convenient to the station, and to the ferry terminal. The 12th floor “Relax” area was wonderful, with great views, comfortable and fun seating and an outstanding sauna. The restaurant is lovely and the breakfast was terrific.
Spacious room with closet and fridge.
Good location, about 10-15 min walk to town center. Nice facilities (kitchen, lounge, ample dining area), cozy decor, tea/coffee available any time and a little morning snack was a nice touch. The place feels very safe, with multiple doors secured with key code.
It is very well located, close to main station, food, sea and everything. I really like the entrance allowance with the daily updated codes. It is easy to use and safe.
Yes, there is no reception in the hotel but they are quickly reply to mails and messages.
I really enjoyed with my staying!
Great location in the city center with easy access to train and ferry.
View of the sound or city if you choose a room facing out (there are rooms facing the courtyard).
Big buffet breakfast with plenty of choices.
The hotel has a gym and also bicycles.
The hotel has a very good restaurant. The staff is helpful and kind. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the Central station / ferry, and city center, and the new bridge. Express bus to other parts of the city is very close. Excellent breakfast.
Well located, comfy sink-deep beds and clean, functional room. Superb breakfast and beautiful public spaces. I could have sipped a coffee and enjoyed a good book in the gorgeous dining room if time had only allowed.
The flat was very spacious and well equipped. It was close to a nice park and it was walking distance into town. There was a great baker and a good supermarket close by.
The bed was extremely confortable and i liked the vibe of the hotel. The staff were very nice and always smiling. I'd come back to this hotel if i go back to Sweden.
