Santa Fe is a low key ordinary village.
Santa Fe is a low key ordinary village. We liked it for its lack of frills. There's a Danish run pizza place and a couple of coffee shops (we didn't go to either just saw them). The rest is normal Panamanian stuff, 2 mini Supermarkets and a few cafes with typical Panamanian food. There are rivers and waterfalls to bathe in but all except one would need a car (or bike) to get to. I'd say it was a one horse town except we saw 3 wandering about! The scenery is fantastic, so many different trees and so many hills. The road to the coast is finished and is lovely and smooth. There's a restaurant at the end of the road for lunch. The road from Santiago gets better as you get along it but takes 1.5 to 2 hours for the 35 miles to Santa Fe

Santa Fé is a beautiful mountain town in western Panama.
Santa Fé is a beautiful mountain town in western Panama. It's located in a valley bordered by mountains which form part of an impressive natural reserve north of the town. The town itself appears to be easy-going and quiet —save for the odd bar— but the focus of the place is elsewhere: the very diverse ecosystems that exist all around it, from river habitats to cloud forests. You can either scale bare mountains and take in breathtaking views or go deep into the jungle and see unique wildlife, and the trails go as far as you may like. The area is also known for its organic farming and the town has played an important part in the history of Panama.

When you go to Santa Fe, prepare for the hikes, the horse riding and make sure that in Santiago you fill up the gas tank to the max (Llenó porfa). The restaurants are simple, but there is a Thai gem. Try to get lucky by staying in that hotel and enjoy the cooking that after 7,5 years in Panamá I have not found. Simple and honest Thai food is of course a joy for every 48 years old backpacker (now by 2x4 car by the way).

Santa Fe is my favorite town in Panama.
Santa Fe is my favorite town in Panama. It offers many hikes and waterfalls for free. If you want more intense hikes, then you can schedule them with any hostel in town. There are many markets around town. There is a beautiful artisan store at the entrance of town that offers unique crafts at reasonable prices. It is very easy to get to Santa Fe from Santiago. There is a bus every 30 minutes going each way.
I enjoyed my 2 night stay at the hotel. The staff was very helpful and Ricardo gave us advice on things to do there. He also spoke perfect English which was helpful. The cabin was clean and really very welcoming . Some of the rooms don't have hot water in the shower so if that's important to you, make sure you ask when you book . I would definitely recommend this hotel. Santa Fe is a quaint town, very scenic, but no gas stations there and not a lot of restaurants to choose from. The National Forest was breathtaking to see and hike in
Anachoreo Hotel is small, quaint and peaceful. All the rooms have a beautiful view of the mountains. The breakfast is excellent and inclusive in the room price. We had dinner every night there and it was fabulous. The personnel is so attentive of the guest needs. The morning front desk lady, Ines, was extremely helpful in organizing the activities we wanted to do. Would definitively recommend it.
The Yasmín Rainforest Hotel is a lovely, private rooms hotel with a nice swimming pool area and beautiful plants everywhere! The weather in Santa Fe was delightful Milton was wonderful helping me with my bags! Ricardo, Owner and his wife Yasmín very kind, making sure my stay was pleasant! I recommend this Hotel with an A+ rating!
Thank you all!
Very nice and comfortable hotel in Santa Fé, just a short walk from the little center. The room even had a little kitchen area with fridge and coffeemachine. Ricardo is an amazing host and very helpful and friendly and can give you good tipps regrding trips and places to visit. Would come back anytime, muchas gracias :)
Location and food. The view of the central mountain range was spectacular, and the breeze keeps the premises with perfect temperature. The food is Cambodian, made by a real life Cambodian chef who happens to ve the owner of the hotel. All ingredients are local, with vegetables and spices grown on the premises
This is a lovely family-run hotel, clean and airy rooms surrounding a gorgeous pool in the beautiful village of Santa Fe. I would more than recommend this hotel and its lovely homely vibe! We stayed at other places in Santa Fe as well, but this exceeded them all. Thank you Rainforest Yasmin!
A nice, little, quiet hotel with big rooms and a beautiful garden with an amazing view. The staff are very friendly. The owner had to go to Santiago the same day as I left and took me the whole way with her car. Everything is clean and the food is really good. I highly recommend this place.
Anachoreo is s fabulous base to discover the beautiful area of Santa Fe. And the beautiful from the lodge is reason alone for a stay. Adding to that the delicious food (and cocktails), the very attentive service and deeply kind staff and the comfortable rooms makes for an amazing stay.
This is a lovely inn. There are signs to get there once you arrive in Santa Fe. The signs are easy to follow. The breakfast and dinner on our patio was lovely. The view is gorgeous. Celestine was very helpful. He arranged a birding tour for us with Edgar.
Beautiful garden. Many nice places to hang out: in front of the cabin, in the hammocks, at the porch...
Well equipped kitchen.

We had a very nice stay here, it's a relaxing place. Richardo, the owner, is a fantastic representative of Santa Fe and all it has to offer. His enthusiasm was infectious. We will stay here again the next time we visit the area.
Cosy, clean, well run. Great relax area's, hot shower, nice kitchen to cook. Small bar with nice music until about 9.30pm.
Wi-Fi very good.
This hostel makes a great base to do all the walks in Santa Fe.
The breakfast was tasty-two mornings and different items each morning, the view is beautiful. It is very quiet and far from action. Santa Fe is a very small quiet town. For us, 2 nights was enough time.
Coffee Mountain Inn was a very cozy Inn with clean rooms, very friendly owners, and beautiful mountain views. Next time I venture to Santa Fe I'm definitely going back. The coffee farm tour is a must.
Good price, tips and advice on things to do around Santa Fe. The pool was nice, the kitchen/common area was quite large even though the kitchen wasn't that well stocked.
We did not have breakfast there. The views from the hotel were breathtaking. The operators were kind and helpful with tips where to go for activities including meals
