Upper Hutt is a small city about 40 mins by train or road from Wellington and served by excellent public transport. It has good shopping in the city centre with major supermarkets and local shops. It is surrounded by plentiful green space especially along the Hutt River which has a pedestrian/cylce path which runs all along the valley down to Wellington. There are lots of sporting events and the city hostS the Wellington Racetrack which promotes not only horse racing but numerous other events - during the two weeks we were there there was a major American vintage car festival and a food, craft night market.

I was staying in Upper Hutt for overnight accommodation while attending an exhibition elsewhere during the day. Really the only thing I did in Upper Hutt was to eat out for dinner on two nights. I can recommend a visit to Brewtown for a variety of meal and drink choices, and it is only a few minutes' drive from this accommodation.

Area around Upper Hutt excellent, and close proximity to Wellington, - Upper Hutt itself is an unattractive town, run down and generally not a place to visit. Highlight of Upper Hutt is Zras kebab cafe - great service and food.

Travelling with kids - we unexpectedly stumbled upon the newly upgraded Maidstone Max playground opposite the Mitre 10 and were BLOWN AWAY... easily the biggest and best public playground we have ever seen in our travels worldwide. SPECTACULAR.

We chose to stay in Upper Hutt as we had a long day travelling from the Hawkes Bay and we did not want to battle traffic to get into Wellington. Parking is easy and the Hutt River has lovely walks to relax at the end of a long day driving.
Great communication from the host's. Clear instructions on how to get in. Easy access and parking. The room was nicely set up and is equipped with a small snack bar including a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster as well as provided fruit, breakfast cereals, coffee and tea. The bathroom and shower were nice and clean. The water pressure is great and shampoo/body wash were provided. The WiFi is fast and easy to connect to.
The location is close to Upper Hutt City Centre with approximately 5 min drive time.
The accomodation was excellent, the servicing of the room was also excellent couldn’t fault it. The office was closed when I arrived, instructions was left on the office door in clear view. A tenant/?, offered her help, carried my bags and guided me to my room, she was lovely, really appreciated it. Enjoyed the peace and quiet. I would be happy to recommend Hawks Inn Motel to my friends or anybody that is looking for accomodation in Upper Hutt.
Great location, over the road from Trentham Station, 10-minute drive to Upper Hutt or Wellington expressway.
On-site bottle shop and restaurant although we were too busy to use either.
Friendly staff, welcoming and helpful with room servicing, even milk and a chocolate bar on arrival.
A favourite place of ours to stay when coming to Upper Hutt. Its centrally located in beautiful surroundings. Rooms are large with plenty of seating available.
Rooms now have air conditioning and bathroom modernised.
Loved watching the bunnies running around on the lawn at night.

It WAS a very quiet neighbourhood and a convenient location for me to visit relatives in Upper Hutt. The host was communicative and helpful. She provided a little welcoming gift of fresh eggs and a cake as well as taking the time to say hello.
My room was fantastic, nice and cozy. Everything was super clean and the bed was comfortable. Sky tv, wifi and heatpump are all top notch. Will definitely returning when I’m back in Upper Hutt!
The location of the motel is off the main road which allowed for quiet nights for sleeping. The people owners and staff were always friendly and helpful and the rooms were serviced daily.
Travelling so much I stay in lots of accommodations from B&Bs to 5star hotels, and cleanliness is often a concern, not here, this accommodation was immaculate - very impressed.
I sent two guys to Upper Hutt for work. They stayed in this lovely home for 4nights. They said it was amazing and they very much enjoyed their stay and would stay again.
