The location was superb with an easy walk to Hanmer shops, restaurants and hot pools. The lodge was very clean and warm with a lovely sunny deck and fire roaring in the reception area. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to give us a car park to ensure security for our mountain bikes.
The St James Premium Accommodation is a 5 minutes’ walk from the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa, restaurants and shops. Most accommodation overlooks Chisholm Park with views towards the mountains....

Fabulous views, underfloor heating magic, room service very good. Location close to centre of Hanmer Springs, walking distance to the thermal pools. Will sure come back to stay at this property. Could see the snow on the mountain tops. Frosty when we stayed but sunny days. Loved the autumn colours at this time of the year. Easy drive from Christchurch.

The Hot Pools are a great drawcard, always popular.
The Hot Pools are a great drawcard, always popular. Some great restaurants, cafes and bars. Lots of trees, provide welcome shade in summer. Plenty of walking and cycling tracks. Water sports - rafting, jet boats, fishing etc. Craft market on a Saturday. Always a busy place for locals and tourists, so book early.

The Mountain View’s were beautiful and the walking track varied from easy to difficult. The town was very pleasant, clean and well taken care of. The pools were wonderful and especially enjoyed being able to swim laps in the big pool which was never crowded. Overall it was a very pleasant place for a vacation

Hanmer Springs is lovely.
Hanmer Springs is lovely. This motel overpriced, cheap and nasty. False advertising using "premium".
Hanmer is popular but don't resort to booking at this motel if you find others booked out.

Nice small village with plenty to do.
Nice small village with plenty to do. Many walking and bike trails, nice shops and the Thermal pools were great for all ages. Plenty to keep families amused.
The whole town had a nice vib.
The down side would have to be the cost of eating out at the cafes and restaurants.

Great thermal pools.
Great thermal pools. My wife booked had two sessions in the spa rooms - a facial and a massage - while she was doing that I ventured on the new waterslides (at the age of 71) - they are now included in your admission charge. As we we were staying for two nights, we booked a two day ticket to the pools, this is good value and it's great to be able to pop to the pools early in the morning when there are fewer people around.
One evening we had a good meal at the Hanmer Springs Hotel (where we stayed), the second night we tried the Spice Village Indian restaurant, which I thoroughly recommend.
Great lunch one day at the Powerhouse cafe - by far the best cafe in Hanmer in my opinion.
We also went on the quad bikes at Hanmer Attractons - we were able to choose a quad buggy which is a two-person vehicle. This is well organised, with an instructor/guide who puts the emphasis on safety.
I booked the retreat for my partners birthday. We read the reviews after booking with non refundable and thought to ourselves ohh no what are we in for anyhow our stay was nothing like what we had read. We were very happy with our choice in stay. I'm a clean freak and after the reading the reviews, nervous was an under statement.... it wasn't immaculate but overall was 9/10. I hope this review helps others when looking for accommodation in Hanmer. We booked the spa bath room! Thankyou 🙂
We had a very nice stay at the Hanmer Springs Hotel, The room had everything we needed. Great selection of tea, coffee and a good amount of hair/body wash. The room was serviced to a high standard. The stay was nice and the staff are great.
We had dinner there as well, it was great. Very good service and dinner was amazing. Dinks are also great. The room was a little dated but great for the price we paid
Lovely modern and comfortable accommodation in park-like grounds. The owners are super nice people who make you feel at home and will go out of their way to be helpful. I liked it so much that I came back for a few more nights. I've stayed in 3 other Hanmer Springs hotels/motels previously and this is my favourite. Also the best value for money.
Lovely location on the edge of town with beautiful views especially at sunset. We were upgraded which was very much appreciated. Everything spotlessly clean, looked brand new. Emma the owner manager very helpful & welcoming. Hanmer Springs is lovely, recommend the walk up Conical Hill in the morning, & the thermal baths in the afternoon.
A very well appointed, spacious, clean holiday home. Was super comfortable and perfect for our large family. The location is beautiful and very quiet. The hosts are super accomodating and we so nice to take us out to see the Mares and Foals - who are even friendlier! We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Hanmer.
A wonderful place to stay with a beautiful panoramic view of Hanmer Springs from the balcony of our room. We could not have had any friendlier welcome from our hosts. It is just a short walk to the central part of town. Breakfast was typical New Zealand with fruits, cereals, toast and coffee or tea.
Alpine Adventure Holiday Park is such a beautiful spot, tranquil location and ideal for families. The amenities are plenty and overall it's a lovely place for a holiday, with everything you could need, whether camping or in a cabin. We spent 1 week here and didn't want to leave.
Riverview Lodge is one of the best places we stayed during our New Zealand trip. Excellent/ friendly host, clean rooms, comfy bed, great breakfast, an incredible view and a short drive to the Hanmer Springs township. We'd highly recommend that you consider staying here.
Ladies...there is a full length mirror. Not many motels have these. Lots of space and comfortable. Restaurants, cafes and hot pools in walking distance. Older motel competing with lots of new ones so for this reason a little over priced.
The hotel is an excellent place to stay and a brilliant location in the centre of town, with a huge spectacular garden area, it is still in very good condition since the change of name and ownership. It is very good value for money.
Good friendly, relaxed, family atmosphere. This is not a luxury site but it is comfortable and the owner makes an effort to ensure the kids experience a good old fashioned camping vibe.
Great value for money.
What a pleasant surprise. We though staying in the forest camp cabins would be roughing it but found that it more than was satisfactory. We made use of the communal kitchen which had everything we needed.
The hotel management is very nice
Our room been having lights on and heater on when we arrived, it’s cold now in the night time in winter
So we’re very happy and thankful with that
