Portside is in avery convenient location, the room is a good size and has a really great layout including a clever kitchen with dishwasher and oven.
The room was very quiet which we really enjoyed. The room was also nice and warm without using the heatpump (6°c outside).
Check in was efficient and pleasant.

Actually stayed four nights, and the 5 days were a great winding down for us. We could walk everywhere, swim at the beach, buy a cake or ice cream at the dairy by the camp.

The river view, wharf view in the evening was gorgeous.
The river view, wharf view in the evening was gorgeous. The walkway and boardwalk are a desirable, peaceful place to walk. The beach was the highlight of our visit as well as the farmers market. We preferred the beautiful fresh food from the farmers market opposed to take aways and restaurants we've dined at previously. We ate at a variety of cafes, restaurants and take aways. Without naming them we'll definitely be buying fresh produce and using the BBQ provided at our motel or available at Midway beach to cook our own steak served with fresh local produce, including fine wine, bread and honey. It's easy to get around Gisborne, but be aware of hazardous drivers and pedestrians. On our next visit we will avoid over spending trying to source excitable and palatable cuisine including takeaways.

Full of character with many 19th c buildings still surviving. Lovely beaches east and west with excellent access. Strong Maori influence including Cook's landing interpretations. City easy to access, with outrageous parking charges made until midnight on Saturday night! With accommodation, restaurant, gifts, and fuel costs spent amounting to NZ$2000 over three nights of our stay... give us a break

There are better places to visit that are much less difficult to travel to than Gisborne, we went because we had never been before so it was good to see the place but wouldn’t go to the trouble to go back.
Roadworks from Napier to Gisborne were many with many stoppages. Long slow winding road. Gisborne to Whakatane however was a very pleasant very scenic drive starting off with Gisborne's horticulture then farmland then through a native forested river gorge. Gisborne's main retail strip looks great and is well laid out, the palm trees set it off so well on a sunny day. The famous Eastwoodhill Arboretum was a bit of a let down, it was a big reason we finally decided to add Gisborne to our trip however it didn’t live up to the online pictures and information we saw of it. Basically it’s just hilly farmland heavily planted out sporadically with various trees and riddled with many tracks colour coded but good luck trying to completely follow a particular track as some markers weren’t there at various intersections. It’s nice for a bit of a hilly tree walk but there is nothing particularly organised or grand about the plantings that looks anything like you see of tree plantings in various Botanical Gardens.

My first time visit to gisborne.
My first time visit to gisborne. Town centre is not big, but it was interesting. I enjoyed the botanical gardens and small museum during my visit. My visit was the middle of winter, but still enjoyable.

I found the Cook Landing Reserve to be underwhelming, It was disappointing in that there was not much about Captain Cook at the site, just gourds.
The Gisborne Museum was worth a visit.
The beaches would have been lovely if not for cyclone Hale.

The service is not good enough for one night stay...we ask for milk for cup of tea in the evening but the receptionist said, the housekeeper is going to bring for us...waiting for the evening no one is turned up even in the morning when we left...
Loved the room, especially the spa bath. We travelled from Rotorua, returning to Tolaga Bay after a fun-filled weekend, and decided to stay the night in Gisborne, as the trip was long and we began our journey late that afternoon, The break in our trip was a great idea and gave us the rest that we needed. The spa bath was amazing, nice and relaxing, just what we needed. The bed was comfortable, and I loved the pillows. The staff were very lovely, thank you and we will definitely stay again.
Property has one of the most beautiful views in Gisborne.
Very Relaxing and peaceful environment .
This house is in a stunning location, with mountains and sea views. The furniture is beautiful, and it's just a short 15-minute drive from the town centre. It's a peaceful and relaxing place to stay, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and comfort. Whether you're looking to unwind or explore the surrounding area, this house provides an ideal retreat.
My grand daughter and I absolutely loved our stay. Reception lady was nice, room was lovely and beds were comfy. Room had everything we needed. Ngawai, one of the house keeping ladies went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Thank you. I would definately stay here again and highly recommend the Tudor Park Motel for your stay when visiting Gisborne.
Hotel was as described. Leigh was very helpful, friendly and informative. The room was spacious and access to the outside garden was easy. everything was clean and the room was bright and airy. Tea and coffee facilities in the kitchenette were appreciated and the full sized fridge a bonus. Check in and out was easy and hassle free.
EVERYTHING! 😊 it was just PERFECT! 😊 Loved the pool view the feeling of just being there it was so good especially getting away for some mind space 😊 ILOVED IT! Definitely gonna book again in the future & stay for more than 1 night. ILOVE BEING AT THE EMERALD HOTEL ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO BE! 😊
Loved this place. Loved the history of the building. Tony was a great entertaining, accommodating, and hospital host who made me a fantastic breakfast and gave me great advice about visiting Gisborne. I also enjoyed meeting the other guests and the bed was super comfortable.
From our first step into the hotel we loved it , the patio views with our breakfast was amazing and the cleanliness of our room was exceptional, new towels and whatever else we needed freshly done every morning, thank yous so very much for the beautiful stay
The friendliness of the owner, when we arrived I asked where would be a good place to have dinner he mentioned a couple of restaurants but later I found he had printed off all the great places with addresses where we could get a great meal, great service.
It was the cleanest motel/hotel room we've ever stayed in. Very generously-sized bathroom and shower. Comfortable beds with very warm coverings. We really appreciated the biscuits provided, and the bottled water in the frig.
Very nice motel and very good location and with great facilities, spa was amazing after a long drive or after a day of activities, staff even gave the homely feel and even suggested us great places to visit around Gisborne.
Thankyou Neerja. Quiet, cozy room with spare room, kitchenette and bathroom. Had everything we needed even a car hire, for outings. Saturday market and museums within 5mins walk with a bridge walkway to town also.
This is a very nice waterfront hotel, kitchette was included and the place was modern and the staff are friendly and accomading, there is a pool and a lot of people fish from the close by river channel
Great location and the room had everything we needed. The property is well maintained with good parking. Special thanks to the hotel manager who was very helpful and accommodating.
A well-appointed room with good self-catering facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Perfect for a short or longer stay in the Gisborne area.
