Very nice and cozy place! and breakfast was amazing.
Hotel De Doelen is uniquely situated at the Rapenburg, one of the most beautiful canals in the Netherlands. The hotel is situated in an ancient Patrician mansion, built in 1638.

"The hotel with the soul" was my first thought when I entered the hall.
It feels very "home-like".
And everything (incl. tea&coffee sets in the room) demonstrates that you are welcomed.
Great location.

The hotel is very clean and comfortable with a good shower and nice bed linen. The location is great with the train station and the beautiful historic town just a few minutes walk away. There are some good restaurants nearby. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel but enjoyed breakfast at some of the excellent local cafes.
This property is located on the estate of Oud-Poelgeest, only 2.9 km from the centre of Leiden and free WiFi is available throughout the property.

+ : the location, the park
+ : friendly staff
Negative:
The rooms are located in a new 2-storey building with a car park at the rear of the hotel. The hotel is situated in a beautiful large park, which belongs to Oud Poelgeest Castle. The rooms are furnished in a standard modern style, although they are a little worn here and there. Room #20 is noisy as it overlooks the car park and the room is located at the service entrance where the hotel staff do their rounds in the morning and during the day. The spiral staircase in the corridor also makes a big noise as soon as guests use it. The WiFi in the room also didn't work during my stay. For two nights totalling €293, e.g. you don't get a minibar, no welcome amenities in the room and no bottle of water, as is so often standard these days. Not to mention the shower gel in my room was no sealed and already used. The breakfast for 18€ is almost a cheek. The hotel benefits from its location and almost takes advantage of this.
Ideally located along the A44, Bastion Hotel Leiden Oegstgeest provides easy access to Leiden, The Hague, the flower auction of Rijnsburg and the beach.

Voorschoten is a small town but ideally placed for travelling to The Hague & Amsterdam. We made visits to the castle De Haar near Utrecht which was wonderful & to Haarlem.
Voorschoten has a decent shopping area with 2 supermarkets & lots of shops you'd expect to find in a small Dutch town. It is mostly pedestrianised, apart from bicycles of course.
There are lots of eateries including an ice cream parlour, Italian restaurant, Tapas bar & several outlets selling Dutch food.

Lots of restaurants and intermingled in a residential area.
Lots of restaurants and intermingled in a residential area. Quite charming. No loud noises and people were very friendly.
Breakfast at La Casita was very fresh and very good; our breakfast hostess went out of her way to cater to our extra needs. A plus!!
Cosy little hotel, just few rooms, very calm. Nice breakfast. The town is small, no overcrowding and noise. Beautiful park and channel just round the corner. Several supermarkets nearby. Railway station is in 15 minutes walking from the hotel, all destinations in Netherlands can be reached via it. Bus stop is in 10 minutes walking, there are several bus routes to Leiden and Den Haag. Thanks to Ron for his service and hospitality!
-The owners were very friendly and helpfull
-For the kids there were about 5 rabbits + cat Arno
-Breakfast is very elaborate and fresh
-You have a nice inner terras to relax + BBQ material
-The location is in a small village Voorschoten with plenty of nice restaurants
-15 minutes away you have the see or a nice lake or very big Louwman car museum or modern art Voorlinden or amusement park Duinrell
We loved the hotel: the location, the quietness, the friendly receptionist, the architecture, the room size, the built-in furniture, the beds, the big bathroom, the big shower, everything! We didn't have breakfast at Tante Tokkie (opened at 9 a.m.) which the receptionist recommended because we were hungry before 9 a.m. but it looked quite nice.
Voorschoten is flat as a pancake. Excellent for getting about by bike or on foot. Train about 2km walk. Bus 45 about 1km. I was offered a free bike but decided against. A street plan e.g. Google Maps is handy, because there are so many waterways and bridges to negotiate.
Windmill is near De Vink.
Beautiful little boutique hotel in a very atmospheric location in a very pretty town. Did not eat there so cannot rate the restaurant but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Would have happily stayed longer and explored the town and surroundings but I was on the move and left after one night.
A large roomy bedroom with big comfy bed. Air conditioning was very welcome.
Effective shower & free toiletries. Breakfast was adequate- croissants meat eggs etc.
In centre of Voorschoten but still quiet for sleeping. Several free car parks within a few minutes walk.
Nice bed and breakfast with great breakfast and free bikes. Room has split AC which is nice
Good location in Voorschoten near lake and downtown. Rode bikes to Wassenaar in about 20 min.
The hotel is very clean, spacious and functional. We got the rooms outside from the normal check-in time and the staff was extremely kind.
The swimming pool was also great
