This hotel is directly on the Via Francigena. We had a spacious room although the bathroom was rather cramped and dated. Good view across the countryside. The biggest surprise was the excellent restaurant

The front desk staff at night was lovely - helpful and sweet. Only person on duty though, so lots of waiting was required. But she was great.
The area is cute and hotel is clean.

A truly relaxing break in such a beautiful setting - the photos do not do it justice. Definitely a treat but worth the expense.
Our room was lovely and we enjoyed all of the facilities: pool, spa, gardens, food / bar. Yes, the hotel kitchen only does breakfast and lunch but (1) there is a good bar menu to go with sundowners and (2) there are plenty of great restaurants nearby which the staff are happy to recommend / book. And their help is readily offered - we booked a cooking class and taxis through reception, and found everyone to be friendly and helpful.
The hotel is isolated (which adds to its charm), so we would recommend hiring a car so that you're not limited to taxis and can take the odd day trip around Tuscany during your stay, to nearby San Miniato or even Lucca / Florence / Pisa / Livorno which are all within an hours' drive or so.

The buzzing electric socket, the twin beds tied together, the broken shower door, the calcified shower head, the hairdryer strategically placed beside the overflowing shower, the thin and dated duvet, the veranda that could not contain more than half a person standing, the kitchenette that had no kitchenware but did half plastic knives and cups but no kettle, dishes or anything useful. The singular good thing we experienced was the view from the window sitting on the loo

Mariarosa and Renato were lovely hosts. We felt like adopted into the family with a lovely breakfast waiting for us every morning. They even made us a delicious homemade tiramisu one morning. I would definitely come back there.

San Miniato is a small town divided in two parts, low and high. San Miniato Basso (low) houses commercial areas, large supermarkets etc. The high city is the old town with a lot of history to be discovered.

We went to San Miniato for part of the annual truffle festival (last 3 weekends in November) and we weren't disappointed! The whole town smelled delicious - the food market sprawls throughout the old town and is full of wonderful, interesting ingredients and food experiences. San Miniato itself is a lovely old hilltop town rich in heritage, and very picturesque. There are some lovely activities available in the local area - we were able to go truffle hunting with a local family and their gorgeous dog. The Tuscan countryside in autumn was spectacular. Definitely recommend having a car - the streets of the town are very narrow and winding, so just a small one maybe - but the area begs to be explored and it's not as easy if you are relying on public transport. San Miniato is within very easy striking distance of Pisa airport, and Florence. Will certainly be going back!

Great little hidden gem!
Great little hidden gem! The food is amazing, best I had in Italy! Visit the local butcher shop for lunch called Serigo Falaschi 4 generations strong all organic meat! you’ll have experience to remember, tell them Chef Mahogany sent ya. There is small bus service but it’s limited to keep in mind, and be ready to walk a lot, but it’s very small town, maybe 10 blocks in total! Don’t be fooled into booking with Airbnb, get hotel it’s worth it, and there are a lot issues with insects, so I recommend a place with A/C and keeping windows closed. Try Plazza de Populo in the square best restaurant in town for dinner! Ciao!

San Miniato is a very small Tuscan town it is very typically Italian however compared to others in the area like Sienna or Lucca it is not as large or interesting. This is the heart of truffle country and I am led to believe there is a festival in November which I am sure would be worth a visit. The surrounding countryside is beautiful for walkers, cyclists etc. We stayed in a villa on the outskirts of the town which was very peaceful and quiet and served as a base for exploring the area.

San Miniato is a lovely hill town with with good access from FI-PI-LI motorway. It is quiet, not crowded with tourists, still good possibilities to eat and drink well. Must see are the tower on top of the hill, the cathedral, palaces and old town streets.
We loved everything about La Mansarda. Honestly the neatest, cleanest, most organized rental I've ever stayed in. Everything was spotless and well thought out. The tiny terrace is adorable and perfect for coffee or a drink. The views are spectacular. San Miniato is a beautiful town and the white truffle festival was a great fun.
After checking out we had car trouble, and Filippo (the host) and his mother went above and beyond to get us back on the road. Incredible hosts and a wonderful stay.
It was just perfect, at least for us. The apartment is large, bright, with a good repair, and looks gorgeous. You will have everything you need for your stay, including a fully equipped kitchen, cutlery, washing machine, heating and air conditioning. The location is great too, it's in the center of the old town, but there is a large parking lot nearby, a grocery store, restaurants and a pharmacy. If you want to go to other parts of the city, the bus stop is 5-7 minutes walk from the apartment.
Right in the heart of lovely San Miniato, this historic hotel is perfect! The room had a stunning view of the Tuscan countryside and the city- I enjoyed hearing the lovely cathedral bells! The breakfast was quite good and the hotel clerk helped me book a taxi on my departure date. (the historic, exposed wall painting was in the hallway of my room!) The views were from my room.
Amazing wide open view from the apartment over Toscana landscape, great location, right in the centre of San Miniato. The apartment was bright, flooded with light, modern, cozy and comfortable, the buidling itself was also renovated very clean and noble looking. We also got a warm and courteos welcome, very much appreciated. Would highly recommended and stay there again.
We stayed here in January 23 and the property was a beautiful Tuscan apartment in a really beautiful area of Tuscany. Vittorio and his wife and family could not do enough for us and nothing at all was any trouble to them. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation perfect for our stay in the beautiful area of San Miniato.
The hotel is located on a property that seems to be a family home that has been converted into multiple individual rooms. It's very charming, and the property grounds encourage socializing with other hotel guests. They also have a restaurant on premises that serves breakfast in the morning. Dinner was delicious. There is trails nearby that allow you to walk around.
The room was very big, clean and the host is so kind and helpful. Our breakfast was so generous! We loved that it was just a short walk to downtown San Miniato. The neighborhood is quiet which is good. The price is hard to beat given we stayed right in the middle of Truffle Festival season and the city was packed that weekend.
By far the most welcoming and helpful host we ever had. He gave us lots of recommendations for San Miniato and the Via Francigena. The apartment was absolutely beautiful, stunning views from the balcony and the kitchen was perfectly equipped. Thank you so much, Walter, we would love to come back and stay longer!
I liked the very clever or nice details like the parking nearby with the lift (which was not working at the time, bit no big deal), the many options to charge the devices, Netflix on the tv, the terrace with view and the online tool which provided all the information we needed for our stay in San Miniato.
The breakfast was fantastic with a great deal of delicious home-cooked cakes, and pastries. Lots to choose from and a great start to the day.
We loved the location. We went to San Miniato mostly for evening meals, which is an amazing place. But there are many Tuscan towns and villages nearby to visit.
Beautiful hotel, amazing grounds, stunning views, just lovely. Felt very luxurious.
Staff were amazingly helpful in organising taxis and helping us out.
Food and drinks were excellent.
Pool was just beautiful, I could have stayed in there all day.
Thanks so much - hope to come back someday!
This was a warm and cozy apartment. It had supplies for cooking dinner and a small shop near by to buy groceries. The location was great in relation to Florence as well as relation to San Miniato historical downtown. The host was beyond kind and extended his hospitality as if we were family.
The view from the breakfast room and terrace is wonderful. Nice breakfast, you simply get what you ask for, if available. Peaceful part of San Miniato off the tourist part, but with a connecting minibus. Very friendly staff and enjoyable personal style of the place.
Love, Love LOVED. Will recommend to all my friends and family that come to Italy. The town people were sweet too. Perfect get away from the city. Our host was extremely sweet and helpful.
We were in San Miniato to attend a wedding. La Casa del Cardellino was everything we hoped it would be and more. Charming, cool, private parking
We would love to return
Good location at the top of San Miniato. Close enough to bars and restaurants. Very good price. You have to call the number to get someone to come to let you in
