Chiavari itself is not a tourist destination, but it is a very friendly city . It has plenty options for shopping and dining. The location is a perfect intermediate point if you are visiting Cinqueterre for one side, and Santa Margherita and Portofino on the other site. Transportation by train to those places is easy and no expensive. Personnel at the train ticket office speaks fluent English and are very helpful when planning you route.

We stayed in Chiavari cause we didn’t find another appropriate accommodation in Cinque Terre, but I’m so glad it happened this way, because Chiavari is one beautiful small town (but not too small), charming and interesting. In my opinion it is more interesting than Cinque Terre. There are a lot of restaurants, bakeries, different shops, beautiful streets, typical italien architecture, sea side and so on. We stayed for two days there, but I will come again for sure, at least for four days or more. It is close to Portofino and Cinque Terre (in a between), has better parking options, there is also a train station and trains go very often to different destinations. Chiavari is a pretty little place right on the beach.
Chiavari is a pretty little place right on the beach. The town centre is porticoes with lots of nice little restaurants. It gets very crowded and expensive in summer, but off season its a lovely place to visit.
The cemetery up the hill is lovely and the centre of town has a nice antiques market one sunday a month. There is a bit of art deco architecture.

Chiavari is a perfect choice if you want to visit around Cinque Terre and Portofino. The prices are great compared to other cities and is very easy to get from Chiavari to visit them by train. We managed to visit everything we had on the list: Cinque Terre, Portofino, San Frutuosso, Genoa, S. Margherita etc. The beach in Chiavari is not that great if you are looking for stunning blue water, but it was easy to travel to other beaches, such as Monterosso.

We have been to Chiavari many times because it combines so many things we enjoy. The sea of course, but also a wonderful evening passagiata, as well as absolutely divine restaurants. The town is compact, with good shopping, ample (paid) parking and delightful piazzas.
The hotel staff were welcoming and charming to us.
The breakfast buffet , which extended down both sides of the long dining room, was the best we've had in Italy, the choice was enormous, from traditional cakes and pastries to many choices of muesli, nuts, dried fruit, eggs and cheeses. Even bottles of Activa macrobiotic drink !
After breakfast we went for a walk under the colonnades of nearby historic Chiavari, which was very atmospheric on a rainy day. All in all we had a lovely stopover here.
This is a beautiful property, very clean and comfortable. The host met us on our way from the train station and showed us to the apartment and made sure we knew how everything worked. He also provided some great suggestions for local restaurants and other things we asked about. The location was excellent, not too far from the station and surrounded by all the shops and restaurants one could ever need. would definitely stay again if we are ever blessed to return to Chiavari!
We stayed May 16-18, 2022. We came to Chiavari to get away from the touristy parts of Italy and stayed longer than we intended because of the atmosphere and food and because the people of Chiavari are just phenomenally nice. The woman who runs this place is the sweetest and kindest of all of them. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. It was also nice to have breakfast served on the small outdoor patio.
room was roomy and had everything I needed, this is not a luxury Hotel but I was more than happy with the standard. All the staff i met throughout my were fantastic, all were courteous attentive and super helpful. I was not very well during my stay and they literally could not do enough to help me, every request was greeted with a smile and an 'of course'
The property is just perfect, no other word to describe it! Stunning view of the sea from the balcony and the pool and it is literally surrounded by olive trees. The house is beautiful, very spacious and conveniently located close to the center of Chiavari and 20 minutes away from Rapallo! We enjoyed very much our stay and can’t wait to be back next year!
This is one of the loveliest places we stayed on our two month trip. The room was beautiful and the bathroom! Bigger than some hotel rooms we’ve been to. Staff was gracious and helpful. Additionally, there was a notebook with suggested itineraries and restaurant recommendations. Location is perfect—very close to both passagiata and to the sea
The hotel is located very close to the beach. We needed hot water for the baby's formula milk and the man at the reception (forgot his name..) was so helpful and friendly even if it was past 10 PM. He recommended the best restaurant to have dinner at and showed us were is the closest free public parking.
Excellent authentic experience, small but very cozy plus the boat is parked right by the port entrance near all the restaurants and WC. Host was wonderful, made us feel very welcome.
City centre is near by foot plus free car park is near too. Portofino is 20 min away by car. 100% recommend
Our best B&B experience ever!
Relaxed, comfortable, very nice rooms and bed, excellent breakfast and very close to the city centre of Chiavari but nevertheless in a very quiet area of the city.
Eugenia is the perfect host who keeps her family history alive in this superb B&B.
We had a great time in Chiavari, it’s a cute little town with not too many tourists. Francesca is an amazing host! she greeted us with foccacia, and even gave us some ligurian bisuits when we left. The room is very spacious and pretty. We would definitely come again!
The location is very good. The hotel is poorly furnished. No air conditioning which we knew but the fact that you need to have windows open and it is noisy up to 2 o'clock in the morning. Even the noise from corridors as the room has no isolation.
rooms were clean and very comfortable, staff very helpful, pool very clean and dinner, service and food excellent.
great location , this is not the first time I’ve stayed there and the hotel has improved significantly.
I’ll be back.
The hotel is in perfect location, a few minutes from train station and the beach. The receptionist girls are very helpful in every question. Breakfast was good but no vegetables but croissants and coffee was delicious.
This is the best emotions for the whole trip to Italy, the owner is a very kind and nice person. The room is large, with an interesting decor, a delicious breakfast that was prepared for us personally, Parking space
fully renovated hotel in March 2022,excellent location with many places to eat and drink nearby,
spacious rooms, very friendly staff and excellent breakfast
