We are glad that we chose this accommodation. We only stayed one night this time, but would definitely choose several days next time, because the surroundings are also wonderful.
We were able to participate in feeding the horses. The owner freed up time to talk with us, we drank beer together in his home-made pub and the owner and his daughters sang a couple of songs together.
There are options for horse riding.
The view from the bedroom suite was amazing.
This was one of the most important accommodations to experience the country atmosphere and a great sense of freedom.

Owners have done the "extra" mile here. It was the most welcooming experience in a hotel/room i ever had. They had thought of every need you may have. You can find anything you want in the house with instructions, from how to make your waffles (they offer you all the ingredients there with homemade jam) to musical instruments, to turn on the hot pool so that you find it ready when you go. Highly recommened. And the best location for northern lights, we just went out of the house and we saw the magical show of northern lights above us.

The house is beautiful located at the edge of the fjord, There is another house just next to it. There is enough privacy for both houses. The interior is made with love. I loved the spacious bathroom. The bed was very comfy.
When the sun shines it can get very hot inside, but we could open all kind of windows, so it was no problem, i liked the sustainability of using the sunheat.

On a third trip back to Iceland Gauksmyri is my favourite stop in the North/West. The staff is exceptional. The shared areas and restaurant exert a relaxed, casual and welcoming atmosphere. It's a lovely spot to make as a starting or ending point into the fabulous northern coast. Book your stay and make the time to enjoy the stables, trails and even some riding.
