My favourite hostel that stayed in throughout my Guatamalian trip.
Did think may be bit isolated as boats stop at 5pm but couldn't be more wrong. Family dinners were amazing and bought everyone together of all ages.
All the activities laid on every night from quiz to open mic were great fun where everyone joined it.
Perfect location right on the water.
Great facilities and loved like it was set amongst the jungle with plants and trees everywhere.
The whole ethos of the place was one of a big family which was sooo cool.

We had a great (and much too short) stay at Atitlan Sunset Lodge. The Tree House (with an amazing view on Lake Atitlan) was perfectly equipped and very clean and the food at the restaurant was just awesome!

We had a wonderful stay. The breakfast was super delicious, a highlight for us. There also is a very nice garden area and many common areas to sit with a nice view of the garden or on the roof. The hosts and all workers were very kind. We also liked the ease of having a key to the outside gate so you can go and come whenever you want while still being super safe. Parking was very convenient and safe.

The highlight of my trip.

Beautiful views of the lake, close to Panajachel.
Beautiful views of the lake, close to Panajachel. Rather quiet and not many options of restaurants and activities.
There was a nice café/restaurant up in the village (you can take a tuktuk to go there) with good food and great views.

A small, quiet town.
A small, quiet town. For visitors there are a couple of hostels, numerous holiday homes and some options for dining out but visitors typically need to give notice ahead of time. Our family enjoyed a few meals at The Iguana Perdida and Holy Tortilla - both were great options and enjoyed by our family (toddler and teens included). We found the views from this town the most stunning and resting here was easy as it is quiet at night. If you prefer to be somewhere busy and don’t want to take a boat to get there, this is probably not the best fit for you. If you do book a casa in Santa Cruz, be sure to bring groceries from Pana as there are just small tiendas and minimal fresh foods for purchase.

Santa Cruz is the pueblo way up the mountain.
Santa Cruz is the pueblo way up the mountain. Down by the lake are some hotels, including 'Noah's Arc' where we stayed. The location is spectacular, with views across the lake to the volcanos. There are flowers everywhere. The lake is clear and clean for swimming. This is a perfect place to relax, watch clouds form over the volcanos and just re-tool.

Great people -- I had an awesome time visiting the town a couple different nights while staying down near the docks -- get a tuk-tuk up and walk back down --- no problems at all. Everyone treated me very kindly. I want to return as soon as I have the opportunity. Santa Cruz La Laguna is beautiful, safe, and the people are friendly.

Very small town with virtually nothing going on.
Very small town with virtually nothing going on. It is very steep terrain so use a tuk-tuk to get up into town. Cecap has a great restaurant and gift shop but if you want to eat dinner out you must make a reservation by 3 or 5 PM depending on location ( there were like 3). If you are cooking your own food bring groceries with you from Pana or elsewhere, as the town is a food desert. The locals are about the nicest, warmest people you’d ever hope to meet. This is a wonderful tranquil base to explore all Lake Atitlan has to offer.

The property is located smack in the middle of a 900person village that is not yet fully engulfed in tourism. So this is an excellent choice if you plan to take village community life in from the Lago Atitlan. Additionally it is only a 30-45min walk to Santa Cruz passing by Isla Verde and Casa del Mundo so nice views on other hotels and resorts. The Art&Coffee is a place in the making with forthcoming friendly staff and ideas for the future. We cannot account for how they will turn out but wish the owners all the best in realizing them.
Everything was excellent, the view is beautiful and the location of the room meant you could sit comfortably to look out at it at every opportunity, resting in the room, or sitting for breakfast. Stunning!!! The room was spacious, with separate kitchenette, well equipped for preparing a simple meal. Armand and his team at the hotel, were so welcoming, everyone of them made us feel at home. We also enjoyed the meals, which were prepared and presented with great care, delicious!!!
Iguana Perdida has great energy.
The owners are dedicated to their property and to integrating with and supporting the local village.
Staff are friendly and facilitate interaction with other travelers. There are lots of places for quiet time or interaction. I enjoyed the shared meals and evening events. The beautiful new yoga studio has daily morning classes. (For a treat, I also recommend scheduling a massage with Eugenia.)
This is a fine luxury hotel. Staff is very attentive since the very begging. The house is magical. It has several different areas where you can relax or havings meals. Our experience was truly amazing. Food is good, but no amazing but is always well presented. You cant miss the JC french toast, that is the best french toaste ive ever had. Wine list is small but good. Juan Carlos, Ariel y Maria were wonderful
Beautiful view and location in a nice area on Lake Atitlan. Clemens was a great host and assisted in arranging private lanchas for arrival and departure. The kitchen facilities are nice to have and it is good to follow the suggestion to buy groceries in Panajachel before coming to the house. It is a very private location. Especially enjoyed the hammock and watching sunrises and sunsets from the porch.
La Iguana Perdida is a wonderful spot. The view on the lake is perfection, and dinners + activities organized at this hotel/hostel are a wonderful place to meet other travellers. The price is unbeatable for what you get! I was worried upfront (was not sure what to expect at this price), but ended up extending my stay with 1 night. 1 of the highlights!
Perfect location! We had relaxing days right in the nature and really enjoyed it. You have the opportunity to rent kayaks and SUPs right in front of the property. There is also an awesome restaurant at hotel island verde which is only 2 minute away! We also loved to travel by the boats and visit the different towns.
Hotel localised right on the lake shore with volcano view just in front of your hammock . the staff was very friendly and helped us to organize the exceptional local guide with whom we cuold do climbing, bird wataching and local crafts tour. Good food in the hotel restaurant.
The views were spectacular! The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. It was easy to get to and within walking distance to the main dock which also contained several restaurants and small conscience stalls.
Nice location on Lake Atitlan with some breathtaking views. it was conveniently located near where our daughter was staying. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. The cabin was clean and comfortable.
Owner is wonderful. So nice and kind. Pretty views of the lake. Large room and very clean. Great shower. Yummy breakfast. Hotel is up a large, sleep hill. Take a 10 Q tuk tuk to get there.
Art & Coffee is a lovely place. The owner Tao is super welcoming and friendly- will give you many suggestions on things to do in the lake.
The room was super clean and comfy!
