The Hotelito is a little paradise on earth. The bungalows, but also the simpler rooms are spacious, well ventilated and comfortable.
The food is delicious and has absolutely reasonable prices. The staff is amazing, they even organize the tours and shuttles you might need!
The common areas are huge, with a lot of hammocks to hang out after a swim in the river.
Good to know: The showers run with river water and are a bit salty - but that's not a problem!

We enjoyed being on the river and the free kayaks. Watching life on the river go on while lounging on the deck. The swimming pool was a good way of cooling off.
The food from the restaurant was always good and sometimes excellent.
The staff were all super friendly and were always on hand. The owner helped us booked tickets to Livingston.
Our room was clean and comfortable and we had space to unpack.

I really wanted to like Rio Dulce. It turned out to be only a hub for boat and bus travel for me. Having spent two months in Guatemala by the time I got there, I was not surprised by the poverty or conditions. That said, I didn’t find much other than the castle to be places I wanted to see more of. It was very hot and humid in early July.

Beautiful remote location with many jungle lodges (from super remote to more public) along the river. Great jungle hikes, caves, kayaking with plenty of nature and wildlife. Definitely a required stop when visiting Guatemala, will visit again!
We are very satisfied about our stay:
- hotel boat picks you up from the shuttle stop (we arrived from Lanquin) and they bring you back at check-out
- friendly and efficient staff
- clean and cute cottage, good showers, comfortable beds
- good food and pricing at the restaurant
- we did 2 of the activities offered: rainforest path (perfect for a late afternoon sport/nature time) and the sunrise kayaking to see the monkeys. Both recommendable!
- relaxing pool area
- good cocktails
the place is nice but the bad experience I had with the front desk woman was very upsetting she discriminated me sayin I was a Guatemalan and she mistreat all of us referring us as chapines or guatemalians just because I ask about the extra fees I didn’t know and she said it wasn’t her problem if I don’t know how to read and much more very rude woman her name is fulvia Karina
Free kayaks to swimming spot. Nice and knowledgeable owner. Food was good and often better value than in town. 10 minute boat ride to Rio Dulce town. No personal food allowed at the restaurant area, but there's tables near the rooms where you can eat your leftovers or snacks. Saw some small turtles in the mangroves and bigger ones at the swimming spot!
Hotelito Perdido provides a great atmospheric stay at a riverside jungle lodge. The facilities combine rusticity with comfort. The vegetarian food is tasty and plentiful, and the communal dinners are lovely. There are plenty of excursions available and kayaks on hand at reasonable prices for independent exploration. Highly recommend!
We loved how close the hotel was to the lake and that everything was clean. Having AC was a definite bonus, as was the relaxing hammock on the front porch of the hotel. It had everything we needed without unnecessary frills. Wifi worked well too, as did water pressure and water temperature regulation.
I enjoyed my stay in the hostel! I checked in at 11.30 pm and that was no problem at all. The room and bathroom were very clean, the wifi was decent enough to get some work done and Flor even warmed up my breakfast after my meeting ended. Would recommend it if you stay the night in Rio Dulce town!
We got a room not facing the street (i.e. #3), and it was one of the best nights of sleep we had in 5 weeks in Guatemala. AC, wifi in the room, very comfortable bed and pillows (way above Guatemala standard) and a great shower. The cafe is also fantastic with delicious breakfast for Q20-Q30.
Lovely rooms (incl airconditioning), nice pool, good food, great staff. After getting ripped of at the Boatique Hotel, this was a great alternative. We wanted to do the jungle walk before it was open due to a shuttle we had to catch. The staff organised that we could get in early.
I really loved this little hotel! The staff is super friendly, dorms are very comfortable (I happily stayed in a 4 person instead of the 6 I booked!), the food is great and it is very affordable. You can also rent kayaks for free or take a boat to nearby activities on the river.
amazing riverside spot, boat collected us on arrival into Rio Dulce with no issues. kayaked straight from the hotel and jumped in the water from the rope swing! restaurant good and great happy hour. our bungalow was really cool built over the water. great shower and huge bed!
- The place is BEAUTIFUL. It’s so pretty, located on the side of the river. It was an amazing adventure.
- The staff was very friendly and helpful. They got us a boat to the hotel in the pouring rain and helped me book a shuttle bus to my next spot.
- The dorms was great.
the hotel is right in the middle of Rio Dulce and the accommodation is very well mantained. We liked that every evening the dinner is served at a big table for all the guests. you have the chance of meeting new people and eat tasty food
I loved everything about my stay at Tortugal. From the staff, service, attention, food, grounds, lodging, and peacefulness. Angela, Leo, and Rudy were amazing. They went above and beyond to make us feel like stars!!
Situated right on the water, this hotel offered a beautiful restaurant, hammocks to relax in, and the breeze off the water was wonderful. The room was very clean, the shower had good hot water and pressure.
Liesel was awesome and communicative. The food was outstanding (did a 4 course dinner with wine pairing), and the whole vibe of the hotel was relaxed and modern while still being an eco lodge.
Awesome hotel, really quiet and nice place in the jungle. of Rio Dulce. Lots of birds to watch. Very sustainable, clean and comfortable location. we can really recommend it 😃.
This was a great spot in the river . They taxied us to the hotel by boat . The food was excellent . The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome .
forgot my iphone charger but we’re not willing to look for a. solution to return it. literally said: it’s not the problem of the hotel. Overpriced hotel
