Zacharo Studios Thirasia, hotel in Thirasia

Zacharo Rooms are situated at the highest point of Manolas village, in Thirasia. It offers basic rooms with balconies overlooking the sea and the port.

Zacharo Rooms, affectionately known as Jimmy's (after the owner) by those who came, saw, and were conquered by it. Jimmy and his wife Roula are very generous with their hospitality. You are staying in a guest house on the edge of the village built on the rim of an extinct, or hopefully dormant, volcano.Step out of your room and from the veranda/balcony you have a complete view of the caldera with Santorini directly opposite. Wake up early and watch the sun rise behind Santorini and set the sea inside the caldera on fire. Turn around in the evening and watch the sun plunge into the Aegean as it sets the sky on fire. It's quite on Thirassia. Cars are few and far between, one taxi, no hordes of roaming tourists. This is a great place for long walks, for contemplation and inspiration.

The staff were so accommodating and so kind they tried to help us as much as they could and gave us loads of information. The location was perfect just outside of the town but a very short walk. It was so clean. I will definitely be returning and will be recommending to everyone I know!

Thirasia is a good way to save money staying in Santorini. Great views, but many restaurants close in the evenings. Not so easy to get too - check ferry times. Problem getting t and from the Port in Santorini - bus only every 2-hours.

Thirassie rightly called Santorini 50 years earlier.

Thirassie rightly called Santorini 50 years earlier. It is a dry, rugged island with a simple, volcanic nature. The people are simple, hospitable and welcoming; you can really feel the spirit of a Greek village there.

We arrived very early in the morning to Oía and we could take a boat to Thirassia very easily and cheap (1 euro) Once we reached to the little Island, a man brought us to Zacharo Studio. I just had one of the most relaxing holidays and came home refreshed and happy ! ~ It is a pleasure to meet someone like Jimmy, who is hard working and conscientious about offering his guests a wonderful opportunity of a special holiday atmosphere. His wife Roula is friendly and enjoys meeting people. If she is available you can sit and have a nice visit with her. The sunrise and sunset are spectacular from the terrace. It’s a very peaceful setting, no loud music or guests to disturb the experience. Many places to walk and explore, ask Jimmy he will suggest different ideas. ~There is nothing not to like about staying at Zacharo Rooms.

Loved the peacefulness of been on an island where you are not fighting the crowds. You don’t come to this island to shop as they don’t have any other than mini marts and restaurants. It is a place to explore or simply rest. Great places to swim. If you want, there are regular ferries to Santorini. 10 minutes to Oia. To get around Thirasia you can walk the entire length of the island in a couple of hours or you can hire mountain bikes. No buses or taxis on island. Many places to explore. Panorama Restaurant is great.
