Archontiko Kolokotroni, hotel in Stemnitsa

Featuring elements of the local architecture, the stone-built Archontiko Kolokotroni is located in the mountainous Stemnitsa Village, just 80 metres from its centre.

Very cosy traditional accomodations on the edge of Stemnitsa. Elona was very welcoming and despite her limited english made great efforts (thanks to Google translate) to inform us of local restaurants, sites and even taxi service (which we needed to return from Demnitsa after hiking the Lousios Gorge). Breakfast was simple but plentiful. Town was very nice despite the cold and rainy weather. Nice to come back to a cost room.

Warm friendly welcome. Large comfortable well equipped bedroom with en suite. Balcony overlooking garden. Very convenient location in Stemnitsa. We’d walked all day from Dimitsana so the chance to relax, have a local meal nearby and time to rest the next morning was very welcome. Thank you for a lovely stay in a beautiful place.

The room was very cozy and beautiful, the big bed was good for us+the baby, and the staff (Olga) was super nice to us and helped us more than expected. We also liked that we had a little kitchen to make some tea/coffee and a nice area to sit outside the room. Thank you very much for the great hospitality!

We visited in late April keen to walk the Lousios Gorge between Demitsana and Stemnitsa. We booked a B&B in Stemnitsa having visited the previous day. The walk was strenuous (good footwear, sticks could be helpful, take supplies) but knowing we were staying overnight in Stemnitsa B&B meant we had plenty of time. Beautiful flowers and bird life in the gorge as well as monasteries to visit. Lucky with weather, beautiful views and good clear pathway. The signposting for the walk is good. Ask directions at the Water Mill Museum as we added an additional hour taking the wrong direction. Stemnitsa is welcoming to visitors. Cafe on the square was really friendly helpful and served great coffee. Helped order a taxi back to Demitsana the following morning. Enjoyed an evening meal in local restaurant with helpful staff and busy atmosphere. Lovely town centre to explore and as the season progresses more shops/restaurants will open.

This is a perfect location if you are hiking the Lousios Gorge. You can start the hike from the hotel. We enjoyed just heading down the hill and right in to town to start the hike..just 5 min walk to the beginning of the trail.

The host was helpful and friendly, the accommodations are an old house in a beautiful village, and have been adapted for guests, so the place is heavy on atmosphere. But the shower stall was smallest I have ever seen, and almost unusable, the room was for a couple, but with separate single beds that could not be pushed together, and getting bags from parking to room required long steep climb up stairs and stone path. Not easy.

Stemnitsa is a beautiful mountain town, smaller and less touristy than Dimitsana. Dining within town is limited, but there are some good tavernas within driving distance. We liked how quiet it was--no tour buses, just the unique architecture and views and good access to trails.

The location of this village allows you to approach a few beautiful treks in a relatively short car drive so you can spend two or three days enjoying nature but also the village itself without much strain.

    We love the mountain atmosphere.

We love the mountain atmosphere. If you like to hike this is great place. Stemnitsa is a TINY village but has a good bakery open odd hours. And a very good restaurant. Go down the little alley behind the clock tower - they own the butcher shop so it's pretty 'meaty' :) Our hostess, Nena, was so helpful in suggesting walks and places to see. It a gorgeous area for nature lovers and history buffs! Village of Demitsana nearby is ok. Very touristy. Not our thing. Ancient Messina is not to be missed. Get a map and get going!

The location was perfect, just round the corner from the main square of Stemnitsa where you can sit in the morning sun and have a coffee. I spent some time researching property in Arcadia and nothing ticked all the boxes except this property. Stylishly decorated, lovely fireplace, great location, spotlessly clean, friendly and helpful contact with the owner. The village itself is the beginning of the great Menalon Trail so we had 5 perfect days of walking and evenings by the fire. I cannot recommend highly enough and we intend to return.

As other reviewers have said, the owner of this small inn, Nina, is a gem. She is charming and engaging and runs her inn expertly. We had a wonderful room with a fireplace with views over the village. The inn is immaculate, warm, cozy and charming. There is a small but lovely breakfast/lounge room where we enjoyed a glass of wine and a chat with some fellow travelers. And the breakfast was the best we have had in Greece. Wonderful homemade food and fresh coffee. We loved it all!

The hotel was beautiful, the bed was super comfortable, the receptionist was very nice and the breakfast was excellent! They had dedicated parking, but in the summer it would be best to get there early in the day to secure parking. The hotel was centrally located and you could walk in either direction to find restaurants or small shops. We were a 5 minute walk to the town square where we found a super restaurant and enjoyed a fine meal. We heartily recommend this hotel.

A perfect place to stay. A very big fully furnished room with balcony and a mountain view. Clean big bathroom. Fridge. The bed was very cozy. There is no a/c, but even in August it was nice and cool in the room. Super nice host! Really close to the village's center (though when you're coming back you'll have to climb up a bit). There is a small street parking about 50 m from the hotel on Pelopida str. Don't try and go right up to the hotel by car, as it is very steep.

this is a wonderful house in an excellent location next to the center of the beautiful totally green historic Arcadia village of Stemnitsa at 1.100 m height. the village is beautiful well maintained with local character and architecture. the house has fantastic view, the rooms are spacey, and it is traditionally, tastefully decorated whereas all amenities are of the highest quality. a great experience, exceeded our expectations.

Great location and the view from our room was outstanding. It's probably the nicest room we've had in a long time. Exactly what you want from a mountain break. Hermeos is a lovely, accommodating host. Breakfast is good and filling. Note: Google Maps will take you entirely the wrong way. Instead find "Stemnitsa Public parking no. 2" on Google Maps and have it take you there, then the guesthouse is down some steps.

Staff were so friendly and cordial Beds very comfy, like a cloud Little balcony on the street Everything was squeaky clean You can tell this property is a labour of love. The attention to detail, the way the towels are laid out, the plush pillows and the quality of bed sheets makes you feel like you're staying in a 5 star hotel.

Beautiful room, the host Panagiotis was very friendly and helpful. We were starting the Menalon trail and he arranged a taxi driver to deliver our bags to the next hotel while we hiked. Delicious breakfast. We regretted only booking one night. But will come back for a trip in the winter some time
