We couldn't have been happier with our choice of a hotel! It's located a few kilometers outside of the center and the old town but this was only a positive thing for us - lying by the pool (a big and clean pool for that matter) it was actually calm and quiet with only some birdsong to be heard. The hotel also provided a free shuttle every half an hour to the center and back so the distance was not an issue whatsoever. The staff was a m a z i n g, I can't compliment them enough. It must've been the warmest welcome I've received at any hotel, in any country, and they kept being so genuinely kind and helpful for our whole stay. The restaurant upstairs offers you the best sunset view in town and we actually ended up having dinner there almost every night since the food was also great there. The breakfast buffet was so great as well, with a big variety of food and omelets made to order. If (and hopefully, when) I return to Chania, I will definitely stay at Royal Sun again.

The views were mind-blowing! It's an absolutely stunning hotel. The decor was done so well and exudes luxury everywhere! Breakfast was brought to your room daily which was a treat. Although the buliding is old and holds a tremendus history (since 1870), they done a remarkable job and the Hotel is super! The restoration of the building is amazing, its modern, luxury with elegant designs (i liked a lot the interior design). The breakfast was excellent and everyone from the staff was very helpful and kind. The neighborhood is quite (Halepa area) with some beautiful old historic houses, churches and Museum (although i stayed in Chania for work i managed to visit the archeological museum which was very close). For me the next time i visit Chania i will definetaly stay there more days to explore more in this City and enjoy the stay on Domus Blanc

Aptera is a small village with a lovely food square that has 3 or 4 tavernas with proper food. Two of them with positive service characters :).
The ancient Aptera is really worth to see. At first, I thought what can be interesting in seeing the ruins, but the theater and the cisterns of the old city with a little bit of imagination were really worth to see.
Signs on the road are really well done.
Aptera as a village is good for one afternoon, it is really good to have a car and enjoy the beaches in the cities Kalives ( 10min ) and Almidira (20 min).
It is also very close to Chania and the airport.
