Archontiko, hotel in Andritsaina

Located in the picturesque mountain village of Andritsaina, Archontiko is an 1865 stone-built mansion offering traditional rooms with free Wi-Fi.

It’s a tastefully renovated village property. The bedrooms are comfortable and pleasant. The little breakfast room has a cosy wood burning fireplace, ideal as it was only April. It’s setting in the village is an added bonus, with easy access by road. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The hostess is the key to enjoyment. Personal attention from Anita throughout our stay. Including cookies she brought on the first day. An invitation to her house for breakfast. Prepared us an accurate map of what you should see in the area. A charming and smart woman. She asked us to call anything we wanted. The apartment is charming and an excellent location for a quiet and beautiful view.

    It’s a very remote town.

It’s a very remote town. A very long and tiring drive to get there, and not much to visit. The town is just average and all the restaurants were closed in April. Nice scenery and very nice people. It’ll probably be more appealing in summer when is hot down the mountains and all the restaurants and coffee shops are open.

It is located close to the Temple of Apollo Epikourios which is well worth a visit. The village of Andritsaina itself has a neglected air about it despite its springs and friendly villagers as well as beautiful location. We walked everywhere and the food at Petrino, the taverna in which we ate was good.

It is perfectly right for sleeping, having breakfast, cooking a simple dinner, having a short stay - or when you are with just 2 persons. It is -in my opinion- too small to stay for a long time inside with more than 2 persons. When you do hikes in the area during daytime, fine place for the evening, night, early morning. The double bed is small. For us (around 180 cm both and moderate figure) a bit too small / narrow.

Rustic town that has some facilities for tourists but has still maintained its traditional way of life. Don't come here for nightlife - but if you want mountain scenery, proximity to archeological sites (some I'd never even heard of before), at least one great restaurant (definitely recommend Syntages Mageirikis) and a glimpse of Greece as it used to be, this is the place.

A small town nestling high in the Taygetos mountains of Arcadia has supermarket and good tavernas. You can reach Olympia in about one hour and 20minutes and the isolated Greek temple of Bassi in 15 minutes -well worth the journey. One really good restaurant recommended by the owner of our hotel which we ate at three times.
